songs是复数，从句子的结构看，1如果你的which was fiarly often是songs的定语从句，修饰songs，那么应该是were，修改后应该为which were fairly often ；
2 如果那句从句是非限定性定语从句的话，修饰整个句子，用was就没有问题。但是你的定语从句中只有主语谓语而没有宾语，fiarly 和often 都是副词，需要一个表语，比如fair-sounding.
