1.引言
随着外语教学研究领域的重点由研究“如何教”转向研究“如何学”,影响学生英语学习的因素越来越受关注。相关研究表明学习者的情感状态是影响第二语言学习成败与否的最大因素之一。其中,学习者的焦虑和自我效能感是影响较大的两种情感因素。20世纪80年代末到90年代学者们在焦虑这一情感因素对外语学习的重要影响并进行了一些实证研究,取得了一定的成果。
一般认为,焦虑是指个体由于预期不能达到目标或者不能克服障碍的威胁,使其自尊心与自信心受挫,或使失败感和内疚感增强而形成的紧张不安,带有恐惧感的情绪状态。
自我效能理论是美国心理学家班杜拉提出的一种动机理论(Banra, 1977)。班杜拉认为自我效能(self-efficacy)是人们对自己能否有效地进行某一行为的判断,它能够将影响行为的结果因素转化为先行因素,对行为发生作用。自我效能感深化到自我价值系统就形成了自我效能信念,效能信念影响人们如何思维、感知、并激活行动等,它在个体的后继行为与影响源之间发挥着中介作用,对人们的行为和成就有显著的促进作用。
自我效能理论在20世纪80年代以后得到了丰富和发展,同时也得到了大量的实证研究支持。这些研究从不同的角度、不同的侧面探讨了自我效能与学习动机、归因之间的关系,自我效能与学业成就之间的关系等(董奇、周勇等)表明,自我效能感和归因对学生的学习活动具有调节和控制作用,且与学生的学习成绩之间存在着密切相关。
有关于大学生外语焦虑、自我效能感与外语成绩关系的研究(张日升,袁莉敏,2004)也表明,优秀的语言学习者具有的一个重要特质是接受挑战的能,自我效能感高的学生胜任感强,相信自己的能力,认为自己的努力能够达到目标,面临困难和挑战时坚持性高,并积极寻找解决方法;而自我效能感低的学生则怀疑自己的能力和努力,容易放弃。因此,个体自我效能感的高低直接决定了其学习付出努力的多少和接受挑战的数量大小。
另外,国内外很多研究都显示,智力在学习成绩中占有重要的地位,但非智力因素(如个性,心理控制源及学习策略等)也对学习成绩存在着不同程度的影响。学习动机、智力和个性对学习成绩影响的交互作用(霍金芝等,2003),表明非智力因素通过中间环节对学习起作用等。也有研究表明心理控制源与个性、焦虑密切相关(孙喻 ,1997);学业优良者为高E低N,学业不良者为高N低E (霍金芝、蔡琰等 ,1997)。
纵观与自我效能感、个性特征、外语学习焦虑相关的文献之后发现,自我效能感与外语学习焦虑之间关系研究、个性特征与外语学习之间关系的研究并不多见,因此,本文试图探究[1] 不同年级、不同性别学生的外语焦虑的差异。 [2] 学习者自我效能与外语学习焦虑的关系。[3]学习者个性特征与外语学习焦虑的关系。 [4]学习者外语学习焦虑与外语成绩之间的关系。以期达到帮助语言学习者提高语言学习成就的目的。
2 方法
2.1 被试
在佛山市南海许海中学选取初一两个班(男生60人,女生68人),初二一个班(男生29人,女生27人),南海桂江一中随机选取初一年级两个班(男生58人,女生52人),南海桂城中学随机选取高一年级两个班(男生51人,女生59人),高二年级两个班(男生52人,女生56人)。即初中学生294人,高中学生218 人参加了问卷调查。收回有效问卷492份,回收率达到96%。
2.2 研究工具
2.2.1 EPQ量表 采用艾森克个性量表(简缩版 EPQ-RA)。量表共24个项目,包括P、E、N、L四个分量表。P量表代表精神质维度,反映被试个性中的倔强程度或反社会倾向,P量表高分者,通常被描述为性格倔强,孤僻,古怪,离群索居或冲动,冒险,不服管教;E量表反映个性中的内—外倾向性,E量表得分高的人被描述为外向,躁动,灵活而行为的稳定性差;N量表代表个性中的神经质维度,N量表高分者被描述为抑郁,紧张,焦虑,情绪不稳定;L量表为校正量表,高分者被认为答卷时更易于受到社会期望的胁迫,因此答卷的诚实性受到怀疑。
2.2.2 外语课堂焦虑量表 采用Horwitz E. K.(1986)编制的外语课堂焦虑量表(Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale , FLCAS), 量表共33个项目,采用Likert 5 点量表形式, 1 表示非常不符合,5 表示非常符合,得分越高,表明被试的焦虑程度越高。采用本研究采集的数据对该量表进行考察,结果显示Chronbachα系数为0.83 。
2.2.3 自我效能感量表(GSES-R) 该量表包括努力、进取心、坚持性三个分量表。量表共12个项目,采用Likert 5点量表形式,1 表示非常不符合,5 表示非常符合,
