一、抓住课堂导入,积极营造适当情境
课堂导入是新课的序曲,不仅给学生带来亲切、新鲜的感受,还能诱发学生主动探索的愿望,进入想学的最佳心态。而且课前三、五分钟是学生由心理准备到进入角色的时刻,是营造课堂气氛,引起学生兴致的关键,也是学生练习听、说的一次机会。因此,在开课之即就常以“free talk”、“a daily report”、“tell a story”或“talk about a topic”等来开始新课。例如,在教教学八年级上册第一课时,我通过作自我介绍:I’m your (new) English teacher from today. 多媒体具有容量大,信息多,趣味浓,效率高的优点。多媒体手段能为学生提供丰富的感性材料,提高学生的兴趣和注意力,帮助学生理解一些复杂、抽象的概念。例如,在教形容词good的比较级和最高级“better--best”时,教师可以制作三张幻灯片,分别是三位同学在考试中的成绩:A、80分,B、90分,C、97分,不同的分数呈现在同学们的眼前,他们会说出:A is good. B is better. C is the best. 这就说明了学生们在所给语境下能理解运用所教的知识。又如,在教有关“birthday party” 时,学生对外国人的待人接物方式以及文化背景不甚了解,而且文中生僻单词较多,为了解决这一问题,我们可以用多媒体播放课文的全过程录像,让学生看图像简述,这样,学生都会被party 的活跃气氛所感染,也学会了待人接物的社交方法。总之,在缺乏语言环境的条件下利用多媒体教学,讲解清晰,声情并茂,动静并蓄,使学生能更快地接受教学内容。
五、用游戏激活情境
游戏教学是“寓教于乐”的具体体现。因为游戏教学,既适合青少年的心理特点,又能达到事半功倍的效果,同时也增添了课堂教学的魅力和气氛,使英语课堂成为学生向往的天地。例如,在教学“names of body ”时,可以做一个“poly says”的游戏,教师先讲解要求,然后让学生用手指身体的部位,并试说出名称。在游戏中,学生个个情绪高涨,积极配合教师,学会了身体各部位的名称,并灵活运用所学的知识,来告诉其它同学,这样既培养了学生认知的自信心,也学会了教材的内容。
六、用形体动作创设情景
要使学生热情、主动地参与课堂教学,教师应满怀激情,以丰富的体态语言与面部表情,调动学生学习的热情;应把教学内容通过具体的形体动作,直观地展现给学生,培养学生观察、思维、想象及动手的综合能力。例如,在教“big”时,两手张开画个大圈,“small”用两手指做个特小的小圈,“strong”出示手臂,并鼓起肌肉。在讲授run fast/faster/fastest,jump far/farther/farthest时,可以叫三位同学上台来比赛“跑步、跳远”,同学们争先恐后,表演得就像真的在赛场上一样,不甘落后。于是教师就问“Who runs fast/faster/fastest? Who jumps far/farther/farthest?”学生的回答脱口而出。这种教学形象逼真、生动,学生容易理解,乐于接受,印象深刻,达到记忆的最佳效果。
七、用语言描述情境
对于某些难以用画、动作和直观展示来表现的情境,可利用语言进行简洁易懂地描述,并可以配上表情、手势,做到绘声绘色,使学生进入情境。如在教“have to do”时,可先提供这样的语言情境:Today is Sunday. I want to see an interesting film. But my mother is ill, so I have to look after her at home. 在这种语境中,学生很容易理解“have to”的确切含义,再通过一些提供上下文情境的练习,学生很自然地学会了它的用法。
实践证明,在英语课堂教学中,能恰当地创设一个良好的教学情境,可以把教学内容化繁为简,化虚为实,使教学内容形象化,具体化。这样,不但能激发学生学习英语的兴趣,而且能便利快捷地完成教学任务,实施教学目标,从而大大提高英语课堂教学效率。
