1、确定自学英语的目的:兴趣——还是泛了一点。
你再细化——是想和外国人聊天，还是和外国上司沟通，还是想看懂英文电视剧和电影，还是想卖东西给外国人？不管什么目的，一定有一个最初始的激发点，比如说——我的同事英语很棒；我的同学英语很好；我的女朋友英语怎么牛怎么牛，我想和他们一样牛之类的。
2、 根据不同的目的设定不同的水平目标。学英语，基础的只要用于日常交往的，不需要学得很深，甚至不用学拼写！但如果为了搞研究或教学，就要很系统的学习，所以你说“怎么样自学英语”实在太笼统了。要把目标细化，具体化。比如说“我要在1年内能够和MSM上的美国人流畅地讨论如何挑选家具”“我要在1个月内背下2000个新单词”“我要在3个月内把《新概念英语2》背下来～！！”之类之类。
