一、对小学英语会话教学的理解
Dialogue(会话)来自希腊文dialogos一词。Dia不仅有“二”的意思,而且有“之间”、跨越、通过的意义;logos包含有思想,理性、判断的意义。组合起来,Dialogue含有意义之流动的意思,即意义在个体之间或通过个体而流动。Dialogue的学习是交流的过程,英语作为一种交际工具,只有在交际活动中才能被有效的掌握。因此,交际既是英语教学的最终目的,也是英语教学的主要手段。
小学英语会话教学是指通过课堂教学培养学生口头表达的交际能力,提高会话技巧,最终习得并自如地驾驭语言能力的过程。其主要目的是培养小学生初步运用英语语言进行交际的能力。
二、目前小学英语会话教学存在的问题
目前小学英语会话教学存在的低效现象主要表现为:学生常出现会回答问题而不会提问的现象;交流时不能自然地引发话题;经常无话可说,有时不知从何说起;会话内容单一,经常出现为回答而回答的现象,回答的内容与实际生活不符;大部分学生只能针对所学的对话做一些替换练习;多数学生在语境中自主交流有一定的困难;学生会读会背不会运用或在具体的应用中反应会慢几拍等。
透过这些现象,我们可以把小学英语会话教学存在的问题归纳为重词句,轻交际;重活动,轻情景;重机械操练,轻意义练习。重词句,轻交际主要表现为会话课教学中过分关注对词汇与句式的教学,忽视了语言交际,枯燥的词句练习使学生的学习兴趣打折扣,无法达成培养学生英语口语交际能力的教学目标。重活动,轻情景主要表现为:会话课堂中缺乏能促使学生思考的会话活动,大量的机械练习使学生的口语表达呆板,使得课堂交流缺乏生动性和鲜活性。重机械操练,轻意义练习主要表现为:教师过多地关注活动的趣味性和丰富性,而忽略了语言活动的实际效果,致使教学目标未能达成。
三、小学英语会话教学的基本原则
(一)情景性
交际离不开语境,因此会话教学也应该力图在相对真实的语境下进行。教师应结合教学内容设定贴近学生生活实际的语言情景,在自然的情景中习得语言,使用语言并最终提高语言。情景下的语言才是生活中的语言,自然生成的语言能帮助学生理解语言的意义和使用场合,并在此过程中体会情感,内化语言,最终促进学生综合语言运用能力的行程和发展。
(二)整体性
整体语言教学法强调语言学习的整体性,认为语言知识不能肢解,语言教学应从整体出发。在会话教学中,处理会话文本的环节应该特别注意整体呈现。语言输入和输出都应该遵循整体原则,通过听、看获取功能表达方式,通过说、演培养学生真实交际能力。
(三)活动性
现代外语教学注重语言学习的过程,强调语言学习的实践性,主张学生在语境中接触,体验和理解真实语言,并在此基础上学习和运用语言。教师应该根据学生特点和文本要求创设多样的语言实践活动,让学生在活动中反复感知,体验,操练语言并最终掌握语言。活动的设置要求多样性,实效性强,并充分尊重小学生的认知和心理特点。
(四)主体性
《义务教育英语课程标准(2011)》中课程基本理念里,提出要面向全体学生,关注语言学习者的不同特点和个体差异,因此所有的教学活动的设计都应该紧紧围绕学生的已知未知展开。充分调动学生的已有知识和生活体验,根据小学生形象思维为主的生理特点,尊重爱说爱唱爱动爱演的天性,设计出学生乐于参与的学习活动,并在此过程关注到学生的个体差异,利用小组活动互帮互助,努力提高学生参与的积极性和参与面,真正做到面向全体学生。
(五)生活性
目前小学英语对话教学课堂存在明显的非真实交际现象,很大的原因是设计的情景并非基于学生的生活体验,离学生实际较远,从而造成学生无话可说,或者仅仅套用词汇句型完成虚假交际。因此,会话教学应该贴近学生生活,从学生的生活经验出发,在真实的课堂让他们充分理解语言使用的意义,从而缩短课堂教学与实际使用的距离。
四、创设语境是提高会话教学实效性的关键
语境的定义很广,而且不同学派、不同学科的人们对其认识也各有不同。一般而言,语境就是语言交际所依赖的环境。它包括以下三个要素:一个要素是语言语境,即文章或言谈中话题的上下文或上下句;另一个要素是人们交际时所共处的社交语境,即说话人使用语言和听话人理解语言的客观环境,如交际场所、交际双方的身份、地位和彼此之间的关系以及双方的社会、文化背景等(非语言语境);第三个要素是交际双方各自不同的认知环境,即各自不同的经验、经历、知识等足以影响交际认知的种种情况。
语言展示情景,情景又促进对语言的理解。在某种语境下学习外语,或所学习的外语材料包含着一定的情景,则学习者容易理解和记忆。会话教学离不开情景,语言交际更离不开情景,学习只有通过交际活动才能真正掌握语言。在教学中,教师不可能将某些真实的情景搬入课堂,但却能模拟真实的情景,创设真实自然的语言情景,让学生在一定的语境中学习语言。因此,在会话教学中,教师应尽量创设真实的交际情景,在语境中增强语言实践的真实感,引导和鼓励学生参加语言实践活动,培养学生的语言表达能力。
五、创设语境提高会话教学实效性的实践研究
笔者在2014东城区基本功大赛中授课内容是北师大版《小学英语》教材三年级下册unit9 Hot soup第三课时。教材中呈现了Ken和Ann 去厨房取食物这样一个对话范本,其中包含了运用Is that water cold?来询问食物的特点,从而很自然运用I want…/I don’t want来表达自己是否需要。这个场景有着浓郁的生活气息,语言的交际意义非常突出,因此设计合理有效的语境显得非常必要。
(一)巧设大语境,自然贯穿各个环节
【大情境呈现】 PPT图片呈现Ann’s birthday这个大情境。
T: What’s that?
Ss: It’s a birthday party.
T: Whose birthday party is it?
Ss: It’s Ann’s birthday party.
T: Ann, Ken and their friends are singing and dancing at the party, but Ann isn’t here now. Where is she? Can you guess?
S: Maybe she is preparing the food.
本课时的会话内容呈现的是Ann 和Ken在厨房取餐的一个场景,对于一节完整的会话教学来说,情景太过单调,人物单一,不利于学生大范围的参与和情感的真实投入,因此,本课巧妙设计了Ann的生日聚会这个大情境。另外,教材提供的对话文本和听力练习,板块的痕迹较重。如果按照传统的板块教学模式,会使孩子们学习起来思维产生断裂,知识的学习显得生硬,语言的使用非常牵强。而生日party这个大情境的设置,使所有的板块很自然地融入情境中,学生在整堂课的学习中思维非常连贯。
(二)创设小情景,运用语言真实交流
【情景一】视频呈现小主人公Ann在厨房为朋友们准备食物的场景。
T: Ann prepares some yummy food and drink for her friends. What are they in the kitchen? Can you guess?

【情景二】课堂呈现孩子们在生日聚会上品尝相关美食的情景。
T: Are you thirsty or hungry now? Here’re some food and drink at the party. Let’s have a look! Here’s an orange. Is that orange sour? You can come here to eat it.
部分学生上前品尝橘子,香蕉,牛奶,果汁等并向全班同学汇报品尝后的结果。
Ss: Is that orange sour? Is that milk cold? Is that juice sweet?
S: No, it isn’t. It’s sweet./Yes, it is.
品尝聚会上美食的真实情景激发了孩子们运用目标语言进行交流的愿望,使本课的难点句型在轻松的交流氛围中得到突破,同时答案也是基于孩子们亲身品尝而得到,他们乐于参加这个活动,乐于使用语言进行问答。

取餐的情景设计使最终的产出活动依然紧紧围绕真实交际而展开。在模拟的语言情境中综合运用学过的知识进行基于真实的交流,表达相对真实的需求。因为情境设置的真实合理,使孩子们的语言输出不再局限于本课学习的句型,而是孩子们自然调动了已有的语言知识,使对话显得更加真实和多样。
会话教学是一种比较难操作的课型,作为教师,关键要根据教学目标把握重点句型和难点句型,通过创设情景等多种方式为学生提供充分操练语言的机会,巧妙运用行之有效的教学技巧,提高会话教学的课堂教学实效。
