A
One cool April 22 morning, people started the day as usual. Yet it was not a normal day. What’s so special about April 22? The answer is simple. It is Earth Day. People all over the world celebrate this important day. The idea of having a special day to celebrate Earth began in the 1960s. Life was very different then. Few people talked or even thought about the environment. Most people had no idea how dirty our air and water were.
On April 22, 1970, twenty million (百万) Americans joined the first Earth Day activities. They showed that people really did want to do something about the environment. Since then laws have been passed to protect the air, water, land, and animals.
The vehicles such as cars and buses you ride in must pass tests to make sure they don’t cause too much pollution. Thanks to this law, cars today release (排放) about half as many bad chemicals as cars did back in 1970. As a result, the air we breathe is cleaner than it once was.
Rivers and lakes are also cleaner today than they were in the 1970s. It’s a good thing because they needed a lot of help. The Cuyahoga River in Ohio was so polluted that rubbish and oil on the river even caught fire! Today, the river is cleaner. It no longer burns. It’s healthy enough for birds, fish, and other animals.
Now the celebration has spread to other countries. More than 175 countries take part each year.
In 2007, people in China paid much attention to a big problem. People were throwing away 27 million plastic bags a day! People had “Bye-Bye Throwaway Culture Week.” They wanted everyone to see how polluted it was to throw away so many plastic bags. In 2008, China passed new laws against them.
Every April 22, millions get together to clean and protect Earth. They also celebrate how far we have come. Our job is to put this knowledge to work. You can help keep our planet healthy too!

The Amazon rainforest is home to millions of different kinds of animals, plants, and birds. Most of the world’s fresh water is here and the forest plants clean the Earth’s air every day.
Chico was born near the Amazon town, Brazil, in 1944 and started working when he was very young. Like the rest of his family, the boy got the money by taking a little rubber from the trees in the forest. (The trees are not hurt when the rubber is taken.) The forest and its people lived together comfortably and peacefully.
But some people think too much about themselves and never think about the future. In 1980, the forest was burned to build roads, houses and factories. Chico was angry; he wanted to save the forest! He talked to the government workers, but they didn’t listen to him. They were still clearing the rainforests to make quick, easy money. “Many voices are stronger than one,” he thought, so Chico held group meetings. He discovered that hundreds of people agreed with him. His hope grew. More people came together to try to stop the work of the forest clearers. Large areas of the forest were saved. Later he traveled to many other countries for international help. People soon became very much interested in this brave Brazilian. In the next few years Chico’s name became famous all over the world. The government of Brazil started making plans to protect large areas of the Amazon rainforest.
But as Chico’s dreams started coming true, someone stopped him in the only possible way. The famous forest fighter was murdered right outside his home on December 22, 1988. Chico’s life was cut short, but his brave new ideas continued in other people. One man changed the world’s ideas. After his death, people around the world sent money to help Chico’s work.

A.事实询问题;B.推理判断题;
C.数据推算题;D.识图解意题;
What can you conclude from this passage?
What's the auther's attitude towards...?
We can infer from the passage that…….
Which statement is(not) true?
What is the main idea of this passage?
What does the passage maily talk about?
What does the writer want to tell us?
Which tittle is the best tittle of this article?

Waste can be seen everywhere in the school. Some students ask for more food than they can eat and others often forget to turn off the lights when they leave the classroom. They say they can afford these things. But I don’t agree with them.
Waste can bring a lot of problems. Although China is rich in some resources (资源), we are short of others, for example, fresh water. It is reported that we will have no coal or oil to use in 100 years. So if we go on wasting our resources, what can we use in the future and where can we move? Think about it. (3) I think we should say no to the students who waste things every day. Everybody should stop wasting as soon as possible.
In our everyday life, we can do many things to prevent (阻止) waste from happening, for example, turn off the water taps when we finish washing, turn off the lights when we leave the classroom, try not to order more food than we need, and so on. Little by little, everything will be changed. (4) Waste can be stopped one day, if we do our best.
1. List the wastes mentioned in the first passage: (within 15 words)
_________________________________________________________________
2. What problems can waste bring? (within 20 words)
(1) ______________________________________________________________
(2) ______________________________________________________________
5. ______________________________________________________________
1. ask for more food, forget to turn off the lights
2. (1) We’ll be short of resources.(fresh water, coal or oil.)
(2) We’ll have nothing to use and nowhere to move./What can we use in the future and where can we move?
5. Stop wasting/No more wasting
Some students ask for more food than they can eat and others often forget to turn off the lights when they leave the classroom.(共24词)
…….At the same time, if you find you are wrong, be sure to correct yourself and apologize to those that you have offended(冒犯). ……
任务2. When you find you make a mistake in the chat room, what should you do?
_____________________________________________________________________
此题考生容易直接抄写原句,而忘记应将人称适当调整,答为:if you find you are wrong, be sure to correct yourself and apologize to those that you have offended..
I should correct myself and apologize to those that I have offended.
Do you think about your parents? “ Yes, of course.” You may answer, “ I buy a present for my mother on Mother’s Day. And I give my father a present on Father’s Day.?
Then what about the other days of a year? Always remember to think about your parents. Not just on some important days.
I have a friend. She lives alone. Her parents live in another city.
One day I went to see her. We had a nice chat. Then she wanted to make a call. She dialed( 拨打电话) the number, but then put the phone down. After ten seconds, she dialed the number again. “ Hi, mom…”
Later I asked, “ Why did you dial the number twice?”
She smiled, “ My parents are old. They can’t be quick to answer a call. (1)I always do so when I call them. I just want to give them enough time.”
My friend is a good girl. She is always thinking about her parents. You also want to be a good child, right? (2)why,her, learn ,So , not, from?
1. How should we really think about our parents?
Not just on some important days.
To always remember to think about your parents.
We should remember to think about your parents.
2. Why did the girl dial the phone number twice?
答案:Her parents are old. They can’t be quick to answer a call. She just wants to give them enough time.
3. What do you think of the girl?
答案:She is a good girl and care about her parents.
So, why not learn from her.

Yuanxiao
The 15th day of the 1st lunar month is the Chinese Lantern Festival. The first lunar month is called Yuan-month in China, and in the ancient times people called night Xiao. Meanwhile, the 15th day is the first night to see a full moon. So the day is also called Yuanxiao Festival in China. According to the Chinese tradition, at the very beginning of a new year, when there is a bright full moon hanging in the sky, there should be thousands of colorful lanterns hung out for people to appreciate. At this time, people will try to solve the puzzles on the lanterns and get all their families united in the joyful atmosphere.
Besides entertainment and beautiful lanterns, another important part of the Lantern Festival, is eating small mpling (面团) balls made of glutinous rice flour (糯米粉) . We call these balls Yuanxiao of Tangyuan. Obviously, they get the name from the festival itself. It is said that the custom of eating Yuanxiao originated ring the Eastern Jin Dynasty in the fourth century, then became popular ring the Tang and Song periods.
The fillings inside the mplings or Yuanxiao are either sweet or salty. Sweet fillings are made of sugar, walnuts (胡桃), sesame (芝麻), osmanthus flowers (桂花), rose petals, sweetened tangerine peel (甜橙皮), bean paste (豆沙), or jujube paste (枣泥) . A single ingredient (成分) or any combination can be used as the filling. The salty variety is filled with minced (切碎的) meat, vegetables or a mixture.
The way to make Yuanxiao also varies between northern and southern China. The usual method followed in southern provinces is to shape the dough (生面团) of rice flour into balls, make a hole, insert the filling, then close the hole and smooth out the mpling by rolling it between your hands. In North China, sweet or non-meat stuffing is the usual ingredient. The fillings are pressed into hardened cores, dipped lightly in water and rolled in a flat basket containing dry glutinous rice flour. A layer (层) of the flour sticks to the filling, which is then again dipped in water and rolled a second time in the rice flour. And so it goes, like rolling a snowball, until the mpling is the desired size.
The custom of eating Yuanxiao mplings remains. This tradition encourages both old and new stores to promote their Yuanxiao procts. They all try their best to improve the taste and quality of the mplings to attract more customers

These rocks and the land forms tell a story of endless changes in the earth's crust(地壳) - vast depositions, contortions, tilting, alternate risings and lowering, faulting and intense heats and pressures that changed the very nature of some rocks.
B. This park protects a large deposit(存放) of fossil(化石) dinosaur bones--remains of the so-called "terrible lizards" that lived millions of years ago. The dinosaurs weren't really lizards, and most of them weren't even terrible. Today, many ideas about dinosaurs are changing, and the fossils at this park continue to help us learn more about these fascinating animals.

But there are also many other striking rock formations scattered over the park's 73,000 scenic acres.
E. Yellowstone is the oldest park in the U.S. park system and is its flagship. Visitors come to experience the park's restless geology; to see grizzlies, gray wolves, and herds of buffalo. Yellowstone and the huge tracts of national-forest land that ring it comprise one of the world's last intact temperate ecosystems—all its major species of plants and animals are still present.
