第二，多查阅字典，要那种用英语解释单词的字典，培养孩子像上小学阅读课外书那样，遇到不懂的生字就查字典，久而久之对这些单词或词组有了概念和判断，自然就会选择。词汇量自然增加了。
第三，有条件的话，让孩子模仿原文进行写作练习。比如，用孩子自己能够掌握的词汇量写出这篇文章的段落大意，中心思想。然后，随着水平慢慢提高，模仿文中的方式进行写作练习。比如有一篇关于海象参加表演的通话，可以让孩子也创作一篇森林运动会的童话，把龟兔赛跑的情节放进去。这样，孩子的英语写作水平会稳步提高，估计上大学的时候可以直接上外教的专业课了。
