又有一个人要穿过沼泽地，看到前人的脚印，便想：这一定是有人走过，沿着别人的脚印走一定不会有错。用脚试着踏去，果然实实在在，于是便放心走下去。最后也一脚踏空沉入了烂泥。
又有一个人要穿过沼泽地，看着前面两人的脚印，想都未想便沿着走了下去，他的命运也是可想而知的。

生 命 清 单

五官科病房里同时住进来两位病人，都是鼻子不舒服。在等待化验结果期间，甲说，如果是癌，立即去旅行，并首先去拉萨。乙也同样如此表示。结果出来了。甲得的是鼻癌，乙长的是鼻息肉。
甲列了一张告别人生的计划表离开了医院，乙住了下来。甲的计划表是：去一趟拉萨和敦煌；从攀枝花坐船一直到长江口；到海南的三亚以椰子树为背景拍一张照片；在哈尔滨过一个冬天；从大连坐船到广西的北海；登上天安门；读完莎士比亚的所有作品；力争听一次瞎子阿炳原版的《二泉映月》；写一本书。凡此种种，共27条。
他在这张生命的清单后面这么写道：我的一生有很多梦想，有的实现了，有的由于种种原因没有实现。现在上帝给我的时间不多了，为了不遗憾地离开这个世界，我打算用生命的最后几年去实现还剩下的这27个梦。
当年，甲就辞掉了公司的职务，去了拉萨和敦煌。第二年，又以惊人的毅力和韧性通过了成人考试。这期间，他登上过天安门，去了内蒙古大草原，还在一户牧民家里住了一个星期。现在这位朋友正在实现他出一本书的宿愿。

找 伞

一次，一位教授对一个商人说：“上个星期，我的伞在伦敦一所教堂里被人拿走了。因为伞是朋友作为礼物送给我的，我十分珍惜，所以，我花了几把伞的价钱登报寻找，可还是没有找回来。”
“您的广告是怎样写的?”商人问。“广告在这儿。”教授一边说，一边从口袋里掏出一张从报上剪下来的纸片。
商人接过来念道：“上星期日傍晚于教堂遗失黑色绸伞一把，如有仁人君子拾得，烦请送到布罗德街10号，当以5英磅酬谢。”
商人说：“我是常做广告的。登广告大有学问。您登的广告不行，找不到伞的。我给您再写一个广告。如果再找不到伞，我给您买一把新的赔您!”
商人写的广告见报了。次日一早，教授打开屋门便大吃一惊。原来园子里已横七竖八地躺着六七把雨伞。这些伞五颜六色，布的绸的，新的旧的，大的小的都有，都是从外面扔进来的。
教授自己的那把黑色绸伞也夹在里间。好几把伞还拴着字条，说是没留心拿错了，恳请失主勿将此事声张出去。教授把这个情况告诉了商人，商人说：“这些人还是老实的。”

多 看 了 一 眼

有一回，一位老人对我讲了一个他自己的故事:
我年轻时自以为了不起，那时我打算写本书，为了在书中加进点"地方色彩"，就利用假期出去寻找。我要在那些穷困潦倒、懒懒散散混日子的人们中找一个主人公， 我相信在那儿可以找到这种人。
一点不差，有一天我找到了这么个地方，那儿是一个荒凉破落的庄园，最令人激动的是，我想象中的那种懒散混日子的味儿也找到了—一个满脸胡须的老人，穿着一件褐色的工作服，坐在一把椅子上为一块马铃薯地锄草，在他的身后是一间没有油漆的小木棚。
我转身回家，恨不得立刻就坐在打字机前。而当我绕过木棚在泥泞的路上拐弯时，又从另一个角度朝老人望了一眼，这时我下意识地突然停住了脚步。原来，从这一边看过去，我发现老人椅边靠着一副残疾人的拐杖，有一条裤煺空荡荡地直垂到地面上，顿时，那位刚才我还认为是好吃懒做混日子的人物，一下子成了一个百折不挠的英雄形象了。
从那以后，我再也不敢对一个只见过一面或聊上几句的人，轻易下判断和做结论了。感谢上帝让我回头又看了一眼。

顽 石 的 启 示

我刚嫁到这个农场时，那块石头就在屋子拐角。石头样子挺难看，直径约有一英尺，凸出两三英寸。
一次我全速开着割草机撞在那石头上，碰坏了刀刃。我对丈夫说：“咱们把它挖出来行不行？”“不行，那块石头早就埋在那儿了。”我公公也说：“听说底下埋得深着哪。自从内战后你婆婆家就住在这里，谁也没能把它给弄出来。”
就这样，石头留了下来。
我的孩子出生了，长大了，独立了。我公公去世了，后来，我丈夫也去世了。
现在我审视这院子，发现院角那儿怎么也不顺眼，就因为那块石头，护着一堆杂草，像是绿草地上的一块疮疤。
我拿出铁锹，振奋精神，打算哪怕干上一天，也要把石头挖出来。谁知我刚伸手那石头就起出来了，不过埋得一尺深，下面比上面也就宽出去六寸左右。我用撬棍把它撬松，然后搬到手推车上。这使我惊愕不已，那石头屹立在地上时间之长超过人们的记忆，每人都坚信前辈人曾试图挪动它，但都无可奈何。仅因为这石头貌似体大基深。人们就觉得它不可动摇。
那石头给了我启迪，我反倒不忍把它扔掉。我将它放在院中的醒目处，并在周围种了一圈长春花。在我这片小风景地中，它提醒人们：阻碍我们去发现、去创造的，仅仅是我们心理上的障碍和思想中的顽石。
