这是北京初春的一个普通的早晨。街上赶着上班的人行色匆匆。
此时，中国体操队的队员们已经上班了。当然，他们的工作就是训练。
中国体操女队从法国请来了编舞教练，男队员会时不时看看那边，男女搭配，干活不累这句话，不知是不是也适合这里。反正中国体操队以前在老馆训练时，男队和女队是分开的。
我们的主人公杨威相信大家对他并不陌生。
今天早晨，杨威身体不大舒服，据他自己说是有点感冒。不过在这个体操新训练馆中，在男队友、在女队友热火朝天的训练氛围中，有点小伤小病，每个队员都不会轻易放弃训练的。毕竟，雅典奥运会还有不到半年就开幕了。而对于杨威来说，这半年，是他向世界证明它是真正的全能王，最关键的半年。
2000年悉尼奥运会，杨威在男子个人全能比赛中六项共获得58、361分，以0、113分之差，败在俄罗斯名将涅莫夫手下。
2003年，杨威又以0.064分之差，惜败于美国选手保罗汉姆。尽管身边的教练、队友都认为杨威应该是真正的全能王，但杨威知道，没有拿到金牌，说什么都没有用。
1996年，李小双在奥运会上夺得了男子个人全能金牌，因伤退役后，中国男子体操队能人辈出，但全能选手却不令人满意。经过几年的磨练，即将到来的雅典奥运会上，杨威承载了人们的期望。杨威参加过的大赛很多，金牌也拿到不少，甚至还有奥运会的金牌，那是悉尼奥运会男团冠军的印证。
杨威和李小双是老乡，他们都来自湖北仙桃。杨威从5岁开始练体操，1993年，杨威13岁，他参加了全国体操少儿比赛，一举夺得了五个单项冠军。当时刚刚在巴塞罗那奥运会上摘得金牌的李小双，客串记者来采访杨威。杨威说：“小双拿着仙桃电视台的话筒来采访我，因为我拿冠军了嘛。采访的内容不记得了，大概也就是第一次拿冠军是什么心情。当时其实我知道小双，因为我看92年奥运会嘛，看了之后知道他的，但是没有那么深的感觉，不会想到一个奥运会冠军是那么实在的那种，只是有一种印象他是奥运会冠军，没什么感觉。”
1996年底，杨威进入国家队，八运会、曼谷亚运会他得到了初步的锻炼。而对它真正的考验是1999年在天津举行的体操世锦赛。
1999年世界体操锦标赛，天津。杨威说：“99年挺紧张的，我感觉是我比赛当中最紧张的一次，一上场都不知道怎么办了。一上场都感觉懵了一下子，而且又是我头炮，中国队的第一个人出场。完了整套下来之后可能当时就因为经验不足，感觉最后一个动作结束了应该可以松口气了，结果就因为松口气造成了一点小失误。天津观众特别热情，给我一下就震懵了，一上场就感觉耳边四周全是观众、全是呐喊打鼓的声音。我没经过这阵势，一上场就说黄导我懵了，然后黄导说深呼吸一二三深呼吸。我然后就呼吸，完了上去比赛，只要比完第一项后面就好比了。其实有三个阶段，99年是想拿，但是没有具体的怎么来安排自己去拿这一块（金牌），只是脑子里面想拿，自己有这个能力能够拿。然后到了2000年没有想到拿，只是想今天我要把这场全能决赛比好，能够比出我自己的水平，因为当时知道最强的对手就是涅莫夫，出发之前我就跟自己说今天只要能够顺利地下来、能够发挥自己平时训练的水平，我就成功了，没有想过去拿金牌。”
涅莫夫当时正处在巅峰时期，他的表现当真是让人感觉，像是在读体操的教科书一样。杨威和他比起来，确实显得稚嫩了一些。但当时杨威的发挥，也的确是相当的出色。
杨威说：“当时我是觉得满意了，因为毕竟涅莫夫是96年跟小双一起比过赛的，我的感觉就是他是我的一个比我早出道一个前辈那种感觉，所以能跟他在一起比赛我就已经感觉很高兴了。跟他分数相差得也不大，证明我的实力了。我感觉奥运会那么大的比赛我能拿到第二，也证明我有那个实力去拿第一，我就感觉挺高兴了，可能当时没有那么大的野心去拿第一。”
悉尼奥运会之后，杨威成熟了许多。他的前辈涅莫夫也渐渐开始走了下坡路。
2003年世界体操锦标赛，美国阿纳海姆。2003年体操世锦赛之前，杨威已经是男子个人全能冠军的热门人选了。然而美国选手保罗-汉姆的出现，似乎是要截住杨威，直接接涅莫夫的班。这位选手被美国媒体誉为神童。
杨威说：“去年美国比赛去之前是很想拿这一块（金牌），但是去之前碰到很多困难，比如发烧、脚扭伤，还有体力特别差，很多困难。但是没有放弃拿这块金牌的想法，因为毕竟这几年都是比赛，不断地比赛，但是没有拿到我心目中的
份量最重的那一块世界全能金牌，所以特别想拿。”
五项过后，杨威以微弱优势领先保罗汉姆。杨威最后一项，是自由体操。
杨威说：“我第五个做。一上场之后，咚！第一串挺好。第二串，关键就在第二串，做得特别好，一下子特别有信心。托马斯做得特别开，最后我站在那里想落地看能不能站稳，结果就是想着站稳，所以放手早了，早了之后打腿早了
打腿早造成人的重心在前面，完了之后动了一小步，可能也就输在这一下。下来之后特别特别累，但是比赛已经比完了，至于结果怎么样我也控制不了，所以只有等待结果，就等待保罗汉姆的比赛。他们说保罗汉姆单杠得打到9.7才行，我想应该没那么好吧，结果他那套做得特别完美，下来之后，咚！落地站稳了。我想等待结果吧，结果得了第二，一下心里特别酸，就控制不住感情小哭了一会儿。哭完了新闻发布会，发布会完了之后回宾馆，回到宾馆想了一会儿，他们都过来劝我、安慰我明年再来，明年才是最重要的。但是当时心里面还是恢复不过来，一下子特别低落，一直到上飞机回国心情还不好。现在搬到新馆训练了，才慢慢的调整好自己的心情重新投入训练。”
杨威和一帮湖北籍的队友有时会聚聚餐，做点自己爱吃的。杨威说：“我是左撇子，都是左手炒菜，写字本来小时候是左手，被我妈扳过来了。”
由于新的体操训练馆特别大，黄玉斌总教练想出了用步话机指导队员训练这个主意。
杨威说：“奥运会不断临近，有了比赛的感觉，有了奥运会的这种压力，有压力我也感觉练得也有劲头。六套基本上没什么变化，有点老了，我感觉还好，因为毕竟已经四年了，改规则、该有的变化已经全部都加进去了，新出来的动作全都加进成套了。剩下来的这几个月，主要是稳定自己的成套，再一个就是总结自己去年比赛的经验和教训，一个是落地稳定性得加强，再一个增加整套动作的观赏性，首先让观众感觉到你这套动作特别的好看，他们才会给你鼓掌，一鼓掌裁判印象分自然会增加。所以现在主要练这两个方面，一个是落地的稳定性，再一个就是增加动作的可观赏性。”

The History of Table Tennis
Like many other sports, table tennis began as a mild social diversion. Descending, along with lawn tennis and badminton, from the ancient medieval game of tennis. It was popular in England in the second half of the nineteenth century under its present name and various trade names such as Gossima and Whiff-Whaff. After the name Ping-Pong (an imitation of the sound made by the ball striking the table and the vellum bats that were used) was introced by J. Jaques & Son, the game became a fashionable craze.
The game was popular in Central Europe in 1905-10, and even before this is a modified version had been introced to Japan , where it later spread to China and Korea. After a period when it had dropped out of favor in Europe, the game was revived in England and Wales in the early twenties. by that time 'Ping-Pong' had been registered as a trademark, so the earlier name of table tennis was re-introced. National associations were formed and standardization of the rules began, both in Europe and the Far East.Then, over the next sixty years, table tennis developed into a major worldwide sport, played by perhaps thirty million competitive players and by uncountable millions who play less seriously. However, the game itself has not changed in essence since its earliest days, though it is faster, more subtle and more demanding than it was even only twenty years ago.
Ping-pong Diplomacy
One of the first public hints of improved U.S.-China relations came on April 6, 1971, when the American Ping-Pong team, in Japan for the 31st World Table Tennis Championship, received a surprise invitation from their Chinese colleagues for an all-expense paid visit to the People's Republic. Time magazine called it "The ping heard round the world." On April 10, nine players, four officials, and two spouses stepped across a bridge from Hong Kong to the Chinese mainland, ushering in an era of "Ping-Pong diplomacy." They were the first group of Americans allowed into China since the Communist takeover in 1949.
In various ping-pong games, the most famous is the world championship competition, which was held once a year at the beginning, now, it is held twice a year ever since 1957.

History of Swimming
The English are considered the first modern society to develop swimming as a sport. By 1837, regular swimming competitions were being held in London's six artificial pools, organized by the National Swimming Society in England. As the sport grew in popularity many more pools were built, and when a new governing body, the Amateur Swimming Association of Great Britain, was organized in 1880, it numbered more than 300 member clubs.
In 1896, swimming became an Olympic sport for men with the 100 metres and 1500 metres freestyle competitions held in open water. Soon after, as swimming gained popularity, more freestyle events were added, followed by the backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and finally, the indivial medley.
The first modern Olympic Games had only four swimming events, three of them freestyle. The second Olympics in Paris in 1900 included three unusual swimming events. One used an obstacle course; another was a test of underwater swimming enrance; the third was a 4,000-metre event, the longest competitive swimming event ever. None of the three was ever used in the Olympics again.
For a variety of reasons, women were excluded from swimming in the first several Olympic Games. In 1896 and again in 1906, women could not participate because the developer of the modern games, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, held firmly to the assumption, common in the Victorian era, that women were too frail to engage in competitive sports. It was only at the 1912 Games when women's swimming made its debut at the prompting of the group that later became known as the International Olympic Committee.
From the humble beginning with four swimming events, the Olympics have developed to 32 swimming races, 16 for men and 16 for women. The Special Olympics, competitive swimming for people with disabilities, has 22 events for men and 22 for women.

he known for his action on the court, but he is also known for the things that
he does off the court. Know let's see why everyone wants to be like
Mike.
Where it all started for Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan has been
a great athlete since junior high school. He was interested in many sports
especially baseball and basketball. Jordan pitched on the baseball team, played
quarter back on the football team and was guard on the basketball team. Although
he was involved in all of these things, he was very unpopular. Mike was teased
for the way he looked, his haircut, and the way he stuck his tongue out when he
played basketball. Despite all of this criticism Mike had to enre, he came out
on top. It wasn't all because of him, but because he had a father behind him
helping him to fulfill his dreams. When Michael's father saw that he was
interested in basketball, he constructed a court in the back yard for him to
practice on, and from then on Mike has been playing the game and playing it
well. He went on to play at North Carolina, in his freshman year, and in his
junior year he was drafted by the Bull's, were he led them to many
championships. Late in Mike's game years his father was murdered, he had a hard
time with his game, but as you can see, nothing can stop him. And still,
everybody wants to be like Mike.
Accomplishments
Michael Jordan is
someone who will never have to sit back and wonder what they have accomplished
in life. Jordan as we know has set records that have yet to be broken and he has
accomplished things that were thought to be impossible to accomplish. For
example, on May 6, 1998, M.J. became the first player in history to be selected
to the NBA All-Defensive First Team nine times. Jordan has also earned nine
indivial scoring titles, four Most Valuable Player awards, and he averaged
31.7 points per game which is the highest in NBA history. These are some of his
accomplishments on the court. I often wonder what it would feel like to make
history by just doing something that I enjoy. Obviously Jordan doesn't have to
wonder, he already knows. At the presumed end of his career, he has created his
own line of cologne and clothing, presuming shrewdly that, while no one can be
like Mike exactly, the chance to smell and dress like him will be — in a world
given over to computer generated simulations — virtually
enough.
Conclusion
As you can see, Michael Jordan is some one who is
worth recognition. He is someone who I look up to when it comes to the game.
Jordan has accomplished a lot, and it wasn't all fun and games, it took a lot of
hard work, practice and effort to be one of the greatest basketball players of
all times. Now do you see why everyone wants to be like Mike? Everyone wants the
fame, the fortune and the just plain and simply the life that Michael Jordan
lives. Jordan is an example that what ever you dream to become, it is possible
to become just that. And whatever your goal is, you can reach it, with a little
hard work, effort, and commitment.
