Why Learn English
Nowadays, English has been the international language. In China, the children have to learn English since their primary ecation. In some cities, the children even start their English study in kindergarten. Most parents even hire a tutor to help their children to learn English. There is no doubt that English as the international language plays the important role in communication. My uncle travels a lot around the world. He has been to many countries. Every time when he returns, I will listen to his stories. I have heard of many wonderful journeys. My uncle likes to communicate with people from other countries, so he can learn the different culture. I want to live as my uncle, but the first thing for me to do is to master English, so that I can communicate with most people and have fun.

今天我演讲的题目是《读书吧，少年》。
书是人类进步的阶梯，书是储藏智慧的宝库，书是人类智慧的结晶，书是全世界的营养品。生活里没有书籍，就像大地没有阳光。请大家设想一下，假如生活里没有了书籍，我们还能坐着太空飞船到太空里去探索宇宙中的奥妙吗？还能有给我们带来快乐的手机、电脑吗？还能有让我们能在大海深处遨游的潜水艇吗？还能有让我们可以和小鸟并肩飞行的飞机吗？牛顿就是因为爱读书看到苹果从树上落下才发现了地球引力，成为一位伟大的科学家。
同学们，让我们翻开书籍，闻着淡淡的墨香，和李白一起去看唐朝的明月，和韩愈一起去看看当时的混乱，和姜子牙一起去看看当时那幅繁华的景象。
读书还能增长我们的知识，就像我们班的体育委员那样，他就是因为博览群书，所以学习成绩优异，次次名列前茅。
“鸟欲高飞先振翅，人求上进先读书”。冰心奶奶曾说过“好读书，读好书，读书好”。
同学们，让我们向伟大的周总理那样，为中华之崛起而读书，努力成为国家的栋梁，精神的巨人，知识的富翁。
