约翰.F.当瑟的麻烦从他和他的朋友查理一走进龙头宾馆时就开始了。他们一起走向接待处，约翰说：“晚上好，我得名字叫当瑟，我的（名字的）首字母是J F.，我已经在这儿订了一间房，我能取一下我的钥匙吗？”
服务员说：“欢迎入住，先生，但我们不允许把宠物带进宾馆。”
“宠物？！”约翰惊叫道，“查理可不是宠物，我盲了，它是我的眼睛，它带我到任何地方，是吗，查理？”
查理吠了一声，听起来好像在说“是”。
