the number of...意思是“...的数量”，是一个整体概念，为单数名词，所以谓语动词也用单数is
4. 第二个to 省略
固定短语 prefer to do sth rather than do sth，其中than后面的不定式一般不加to
5. tell 改成 telling
be fond of doing sth 喜欢做某事
of是介词，其后的动词须改用动名词形式

固定短语 be similar to...，意思是“和...类似/相同”
