校訓，作為學校育人的一種方式和手段，據《辭海》的解釋，其含義是「學校為訓育上之便利，選若干德目製成匾額，懸之校中公見之地」，「目的在使個人隨時注意而實踐之」。從字面上看，校訓，是學校為樹立優良校風、培養良好學風而制定的，要求師生共同遵守的基本的思想規范和行為准則。[1]
校訓是學校傳統的表露，是一種方向性育人手段和管理措施。每一所學校在其發展歷程中，或多或少都會形成自己獨特的歷史傳統與人文景觀，吸引、感染、塑造著每一氛圍內的個體。用這種長期積淀的無形力量對師生思想、情感、意志、性格和行為等進行教育，自然是其他任何方式所無法取代的。概而言之，一個學校的校訓是一個學校的最好的廣告牌，它最充分地體現了一個學校的價值取向和特色，同時一個學校的校訓也一服很強的凝聚力、約束力和鞭策力，它把一個學校的全體師生緊緊地團結在一起，激勵全體師生不斷開拓進取！
由此觀之，一個學校校訓的好壞其影響甚大、甚深！
