在辯論型考題中，雙邊討論(Discuss both views and give your own opinion)這種問法常常讓考生比較糾結，因為不僅要充分討論兩個觀點，最終還要寫出自己的觀點。由於題目眾多各有不同，到底應當給出怎樣的個人觀點是很多同學困惑的關鍵。
從劍5到劍10，總共有5篇雙邊討論的題目給出了考官範文。這些文章按照特點可以分成以下三類。大家可以學習下考官回答這種題目的思路與方法。
1 兩方觀點有明顯沖突，選出一方

範文觀點：在體育或音樂方面獲得較高造詣是需要天賦的。
解析：A觀點認為在體育或音樂方面並不是所有人都有天賦，B觀點認為所有人都可以被培養成為好的運動員或音樂家。明顯沖突，B太絕對，選擇A。
3） Successful sports professionals can earn a great deal more money than people in other important professions. Some people think this is fully justified while others think it is unfair. (C6T2)
範文觀點：成功的運動員拿高薪是合理的。
解析：針對成功的運動員比其他重要領域的成功人士工資高這一現象，A觀點認為合理，B觀點認為不公平。到底合不合理，這也是沖突的論題。
2 兩方觀點都有道理，融合一下

範文觀點：教育孩子成為社會有用之才，父母和學校都有責任。
解析：A觀點認為父母有責任有道理，B觀點認為學校有責任也有道理，二者都不可或缺，沒法選擇，所以融合一下比較合理。
3 兩方觀點都有明顯漏洞，改良一下
Some people prefer to spend their lives doing the same things and avoiding change. Others, however, think that change is always a good thing. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. (C6T4)
範文觀點：變化不可避免，但變化不總是好事。
解析：A觀點說有些人喜歡做同樣的事情一成不變。此觀點的漏洞是，這樣的生活方式不太現實，因為有些變化是個人無法規避的。B觀點說變化總是好的。它的漏洞是always太絕對，事實是有很多外界強加給個人的變化並沒有好的結果。對於這類題目可以對兩方觀點都進行反駁，最後提出自己的改良版本。
縱觀2014年的真題可以發現，大多數雙邊討論的題目是第一個類別，可以選出自己的傾向；小部分的題目是第二類，需要融合一下；但是並沒有題目可以歸屬為第三類，說明需要改良的題目還是少數。以下是2014所有雙邊討論的題目供大家練習觀點的確立。

其實都可以的,只是布局不同而已.如果正反兩邊都闡述的話,屬於等分的布局,注意首段通常不表態,像discuss both sides and give your opinion這種,通常要用等分的布局.如果只講一邊的話,屬於一邊倒的布局,首段需要表明自己的觀點.像to what extent do you agree or disagree?What is your opinion?等,可以等分,也可以一邊倒.個人認為,如果可以一邊倒的布局,建議用一邊倒,這樣容易加強文章的論證,不會給讀者泛泛而談的感覺.
