高分作文首先要做到的是把虛擬的場景真實化。題目中所給出的場景讓我們想到「有朋自遠方來，不亦樂乎？」，想到「四川人傑地靈」，或者想到張藝謀對成都的評價「成都，一座來了就不想離開的城市」……於是整篇文章應該充滿著對NICK要來的欣喜，充滿著對故鄉四川的熱愛與驕傲。在宣傳九寨溝和都江堰的時候要在字里行間體現出來。從自身的角度講，我們給出的建議總是希望認同甚至是接受的，所以不能像範文那樣平淡，否則給人的印象就是「這個也行，那個也不錯，你自己看著辦吧」，無論從考試技巧的角度還是真實與人交流的角度感覺都有點欠缺火候。
書信寫作中必須體現的三個M原則（matter, manner, method），在範文中體現得淋漓盡致：第一句話直奔主題（matter），第二句話把贊賞對方和承上啟下完美地結合起來(manner)，給人以賞心悅目的感覺。最後提到交通便利的好處，讓對方感到旅遊計劃切實可行，體現主人的好客和細心（method），從這個意義上講，範文絕對是成功的。
