英文日記和漢語日記一樣，是用來記敘一天中所發生的有意義的事情或對將來的打算等。日記可分為記事、議論、描寫及抒情等。記事型是用英語記述當天自己生活學習中發生的事情。議論型是對生活中的某一事情或情況現象談自己的看法，發表議論。描寫型或抒情型，則是對某人物事物的特徵做細致的描述，或針對某事物抒發自己的感情。
1、格式：
一般是在左上角記上當天日期，星期，時間的排列法與書信一致，星期寫在日期之後；右上角寫上當天的天氣情況，表示天氣情況的詞一般是形容詞，如：fine（晴朗的），cold（寒冷的），snowy（下雪），sunny（陽光充足的），rainy（下雨的），cloudy（陰天的）等。日記的小標題寫在下一行，也可省略不寫。
2、時態：
寫日記的時間一般是在下午、晚上，有時也可以在第二天補寫。因此，日記中所記述的事情通常發生在過去，常用一般過去時；但當記述天氣、描寫景色或展望未來時，可以用一般現在時或一般將來時。
寫法大致和寫漢語日記相同，都是在正文之前有日期、星期幾及當天的天氣情況。注意內容表達要清楚連貫、准確。

To them, animals have their own right to live a natural life like human beings. 1.Everyone has his favorite teacher ,so do I. My favourite teacher is Miss Wei, our English teacher. We felt English very difficuit when we began to study English. 英語日記格式：
英語日記最重要的就是要正確書寫日記的格式，尤其是在考試中，日記的格式相當重要。英語日記的格式與漢語日記的格式大致相同，在每篇日記的第一行寫上日期、星期和天氣，接下來寫內容。日期、星期和天氣的書寫要注意以下幾個方面：
1. 年、月、日都寫時，通常以月、日、年為順序，月份可以縮寫，日和年用逗號隔開。例如：December 18, 2003或者Dec. 18, 2003。
2. 如果要寫星期，星期要緊挨日期，它既可以放在日期前面，也可以放在日期後面，星期也可以省略不寫。星期和日期之間不用標點，但要空一格，星期也可縮寫。例如：Thursday Dec. 18, 2003或Dec.18，2003 Thursday
3. 天氣情況必不可少。天氣一般用一個形容詞如:Sunny, Fine, Rainy, Snowy等表示。天氣通常位於日記的右上角。

用英語寫日記應注意哪些方面的問題呢？
1. 注意日期、星期和天氣的書寫位置。
日期和星期要寫在正文的左上角，其順序多是「星期 + 月、日、年」，也有把星期放在後面的，如「 2003 年 11 月 22 日，星期一」可寫為「 Monday November 22， 2003 或 November 22， 2003 Monday 」。天氣情況應寫在正文的右上角，如： Fine， Rainy， Cloudy， Windy 等。
2. 關於標題的書寫。
在日期和天氣的下一行中間可以寫上日記小標題，也可以不寫標題。
3. 關於正文的書寫。
正文是關於一天生活的記載，也是日記的主題。在書寫正文時要做到： 1 ）要選擇當天感受最深刻、最有意義的事件來描述，不要寫成簡單的流水帳； 2 ）日記的內容多是親身經歷和耳聞目睹的事情，所以要用第一人稱來寫； 3 ）日記多是在當天晚上來記述當天發生過的事情，因為動詞時態常使用過去時，但使用時必須靈活掌握，如景物描寫、議論某事、對話引語等要使用現在時態； 4 ）日記應以時間發生的先後順序來展開，並且要簡明扼要，條理清楚，寫出真實感。
英語日記 I was very sleepy in the morning, so i didn't go running as usual. I had something for breakfast. My new day has begun. The results would come out today.
