通常情況下，同學們只要感覺是個句子就都把句首單詞首字母大寫了，但是在實際寫作中情況如何呢?下面我們來看個例子。

分號的作用是對關系非常緊密的句子進行分隔，所以後一個句子只是前一個的附屬，並不是一個獨立的新句子，所以首字母仍然要小寫的。這個現象同樣適用於冒號、破折號、括弧。

每個人都有自己的書寫習慣，但是雅思考試畢竟是要給外國人看的，所以大家如果能夠在書寫習慣上貼近老外，肯定會給人以親切的卷面印象。比如不要書寫得過於密集，以免讓人看不清單詞，影響理解。也不要寫得過於稀疏而讓人無法在eye span 范圍內看到完整的意群，從而影響考官閱讀。字不要寫得太大，也不要太小。盡量不要連寫以免造成l,r,n,m等混淆不清，造成考官閱卷障礙。

英文寫作格式主要有齊頭式和縮進式。通常齊頭式因為頂頭書寫且段與段之間空出一行，所以會給人以整潔的感覺，也比較推薦大家使用這種格式。縮進式和中文的寫作格式相似，即每一段的開頭句縮進，但是段落之間沒有空行，所以不是很受歡迎。經常在作文中看到同學們用的是「齊頭式+縮進式」，即段首句縮進+段落之間空行，給人以不倫不類的感覺，同學們一定要注意。

很多學生在寫作時因為時間不充裕無法寫出總結段，於是給閱卷者沒完成任務的感覺。建議考生盡量要寫最後的summary，無論是task1還是task2。因為同學們可以利用最後一段來點題、歸納，這樣可以最大限度地避免因為語言功底不深而導致的文章結構不明晰，說服力不強等問題，即用形式來彌補內容上無法克服的困難。
另外，因為開頭結尾段是我們平時練習得比較熟練的部分，所以我們很容易就搞定的，為什麼放著拿分的部分不寫呢?!

大家可以設想一下，當你拿著一篇只有一段的很長的文章時，是不是會有很暈的感覺?!尤其是當我們的寫作能力有限，文字表達沒有吸引力時，怎麼能讓考官有耐心看完你的文章呢?再設想一下，當你看的文章分成很多的段落，而你的論證能力有限，費了半天勁也寫不出幾個句子，會不會每段都給人以流水賬的感覺呢?所以，對於考試作文，要想既用形式掩飾內容的不足，又能給考官以好印象，那麼請把task1段落劃分控制在3-5段，task2控制在4-6段，既能體現段落分配清晰，突出自己要表達的內容，又能避免論證太過分散而中心不明確。
