第一步：認真審題
審題是寫作的第一步，也是也是抓住寫作要害的第一步。審題對了也就成功了一半，審題錯了，那可能全盤皆輸。因為只有審清題目，准確把握好文章的中心主題才不會跑題偏題。
第二步：草列提綱
因為考試規定的時間是很有限的，所以不能花太多時間准備一個詳細的提綱，但關鍵詞提綱或粗略提綱還是非常有必要的。對原始材料分析歸納後要形成一個基本的框架。文章打算分幾段寫，每段大概怎樣寫，自數控制在多少，開頭段落是道破主題，點名要旨，引人入勝還是先給出主題一般的背景情況和對主題進行濃縮的陳述呢，中間段落和結尾有怎樣寫呢。這些都要心中有數。
第三步：正文：正確、連貫、整潔
為了避免太多單詞拼寫錯誤，語法錯誤，不要為了追求詞語的華麗而堆積一些自己也沒把握的單詞，不要刻意追求長句而寫一些自己不知對錯的有多個從句組成的長句。最好選擇自己最有把握的詞彙，短語，句式。
前後及段落之間在邏輯關繫上要緊密銜接，不能把沒有任何邏輯關系的詞放在一起。可以用恰當的關聯詞把思想連貫的表達出來。切忌鬍子眉毛一把抓，詞語堆積，不倫不類。
絕對不能字數不夠，即使一句話顛來倒去說也要湊夠字數。字數不夠，即使寫的非常精彩，也不能拿高分。
第四步：最後檢查
在答完題之後，考生一定要留出兩三分鍾的時間來檢查。裡面有些小錯誤一眼就能發現，比如時態、主謂、單復數是否一致；關聯詞、固定搭配、習慣用語是否正確；拼寫和標點符號等。但是不要大幅度進行修改，更不要因為修改破壞卷面整潔，影響閱卷老師心情。
好作文應該是緊扣文章主題，遵循特定的文體格式，選用恰當的語言合理組織文章結構，內容統一、連貫，語法、拼寫、標點正確，用詞恰當。

寫作是語言的重要環節，看看英語考試中對作文的重視就明白了（分值提高了，字數增加了，連的邏輯也變成了寫作），可這一點卻恰恰是很多同學心中永遠的痛。在考研中，寫作意義極其重大，其性價比（即投入的時間和提高的幅度）非常高，在我看來，如果你的閱讀水平還可以的話，寫作將是你的突破口。另外流利的寫作還會為你節約時間用在閱讀上。至於練習的時間，我覺得，考前二三個月開始，每天10~20分鍾，最後再加些量完全可以達到80分以上的水平。
提高寫作只有一個字——「恆」，絕對的熟能生巧。我在網上看過高手寫的文章，簡直可以用恐怖來形容，完全是閱讀理解的水平，而作者的訣竅就是每天寫每天練！只要不斷的寫不斷的改，你的文章會讓你自己吃驚。套用一句：寫作恆久遠，練習永流傳。
然而備考的時間是很緊的，不可能每天保持大量的練習，好在其要求也不高，從現在開始，到考前完全可以達到要求，但千萬不要間斷！很多同學都有一個情況，越不寫，越怕寫；越怕寫，越不寫。萬事開頭難，所以開始的練習尤為重要，而練習應以詞句為主+閱讀好文章，我就有一本記錄本，專門收集好的詞句，效果很好。這里列其中一些較簡單實用的，希望能對大家有所幫助（不過，建議同學們最好自己寫，自己收集，印象會深很多，每天花10分鍾過過，絕對值得。另外，我列的句子很有限，多半是骨架，大家要學會擴展，並且在記憶的時候多聯想一下。舉例來說，一篇你的文章，用心改一下，好好套用幾個句式，改些檔次較高的詞和片語，可以提高不少哦）：
