其妹妹為這首歌配以了莫扎特鋼琴奏鳴曲KV.265的旋律。因為音樂簡單明快，歌詞童真雅緻，朗朗上口，使這首英國童謠成為了世界范圍內最受歡迎的兒歌。

2011年，為向中國兒童普及權威《一閃一閃小星星》兒歌，加強中英兩國文化交流，BEC英國文化教育總署邀請了中國當代風頭最勁的90後童話作家王雨然，親自執筆翻譯了這首世紀經典兒歌。
