一：全國公共英語等級考試
簡稱PETS。全國公共英語等級考試是面向社會，以全體公民為對象的非學歷性英語證書考試，是測試應試者英語交際能力的水平考試。由教育部考試中心主辦，各地教育考試院社會考試辦公室負責具體實施。PETS考試與其他相關考試之間的關系是：
1、用PETS-2和4級考試的標准分別來改造高考和研究生考試中的英語考試（非英語專業）（該項工作已基本達到預期目的）；
2、用PETS-2和3級考試分別替代高等教育自學考試中的專科和本科考試中的公共英語考試——英語(一)和英語(二)（該項工作正在進行）；
3、用PETS-5級考試替代全國外語水平考試中的英語考試WSK??EPT（該項工作已成功完成）。
PETS等級劃分
公共英語考試等級根據難度由低到高分為一級B、一級、二級、三級、四級、五級。其中，五級由教育部考試中心選定的高等院校負責，其它級別的考試由各地教育考試院社會考試辦公室負責具體實施。
1、PETS－1：一級是初始級，其考試要求略高於初中畢業生的英語水平（PETS－1B是全國公共英語等級考試的附屬級）。
2、PETS－2：二級是中下級，相當於普通高中畢業生的英語水平（此級別筆試合格成績可替代自學考試專科階段英語（一）。
3、PETS－3：三級是中間級，相當於高中畢業後在大專院校又學了兩年公共英語，筆試合格成績可替代自學考試本科階段英語（二）考試。
4、PETS－4：四級是中上級，相當於我國學生高中畢業後在大學至少又學習了3－4年的公共英語或自學了同等程度英語課程的水平。
5、PETS－5：五級是最高級，相當於我國大學英語專業二年級結束時的水平。是專為申請公派出國留學的人員設立的英語水平考試。

在多年的學習和教學實踐中，我發現初學口語的最有效方法就是背誦英文句型或段落。在背回誦前答切記要跟著錄音帶大聲朗讀5遍以上。有讀者會說，我試過了但記不住。其實，背誦時最好有中文譯文，一邊看句子，一邊背。這樣就可以確定背不下來是因為情節的連貫問題，而不是因為英語水平的問題，而是因為我們都活在應試教育裡面的！
③ 高中英語二級口語考試現場模擬
