⑷ 英語教師如何更好的利用課堂用語

一、引言新教材要求英語教師在課堂上要盡量用英語組織教學，營造一種良好的語言環境。教師究竟做得怎樣？還存在哪些問題？解決的方法又是什麼？據調查統計，大部分的學生認為，教師課堂上能全部或大部分用英語組織教學,採用了新教材後，課堂上的外語氣氛明顯變濃了,而且很多教師不僅口語流利，體態語言也運用得好。但另一方面，我們也發現了四個較普遍的問題。對於這些問題，我們不可忽視，值得中學英語教師注意。二、課堂用語存在的問題1、課堂用語不規范，說話錯誤多教師的教學語言是學生學習的樣板，要想培養學生正確使用語言的良好習慣，教師首先應當給學生作出榜樣，外語教師尤應如此。可惜課堂上，我們經常聽到下面這些不規范的語言：詞序不對Can you tell me when did the Second World War begin ? Can you guess what does it mean? 正確的說法：Can you tell me when the Second World War began ? Can you guess what it means ?詞形不準Let's see the two sentence. One more students. 正確的說法：Let's see the two sentences. One more student.用詞不當Can you make a sentence about "how long" ? I'd like some of the students to come to the front. How is everything about you? 正確的說法：Can you make a sentence with " how long " ? I'd like some of you to come to the front. How is everything with you ? 搭配不全Pay attention the difference. When shall we discuss? 正確的說法：Pay attention to the difference. When shall we discuss it? 語態不通The letter "a" pronounces. 正確的說法：The letter "a" is pronounced.以上列舉的各類錯誤，有些是因教師說話過快，而出現的種種口誤。如名詞的單復數，賓語從句的詞序，動詞短語的搭配等。有的則是一些習慣性的錯誤，如：Teacher: What's your English name ? Student: Smith.Teacher: How to spell it ?這段話毛病出在最後一句話上。不少英語教師經常說 "How to spell the name/word ? 或"How to say in English ?" 遺憾的是，這是個不被人注意的，不符合英語習慣的普遍錯誤。應該說"How do you spell the word/name ? "當然不是說how to spell這個短語本身有誤，而是不宜直接當作問題來問。這種習慣性的錯誤在課堂上很普遍。雖然口語不能象書面語那樣嚴謹，出現不規范的句子是常有的現象。但是作為語言教師，我們的要求就不同了。平時，在課堂上對學生反復強調的基本語言規則，我們就應該做到"為人言表"。以教師良好的語言習慣為學生示範。2、課堂用語不系統，說話隨意性大教學大綱指出："為了使學生的英語與客觀事物建立直接聯系，提高英語教學效果，在英語教學中要盡量使用英語。"而在課堂教學中，發現部分教師使用課堂用語時隨意性大。隨意性的表現形式實例："同學們看看例句。" "家庭作業，89頁第三題。" "打開書，翻到45 頁。"半中文半英文 " Read after me 啊！" "Because 什麼？ " ""Open your books at page 27, 做練習二。"中文式的英文"Together answer." "Give you five minutes to read the dialogue." "Sit well."上述實例中，我們看到部分教師課堂用語不嚴謹，說話隨意性大的毛病。時而英文，時而中文。嚴格地講，這些教師還沒有養成用英語表達思想的語言習慣。3、課堂用語不活潑，說話單調語言的表達應該是豐富多採的。課堂上的表現情況不同，教師的評價語也應有層次變化。老用一個詞，老唱一種調，語言就乏味，也不利於調動學生的積極性，更不利於學生的口語發展。在課堂上我們經常聽到如下一些千篇一律的用語：Good! Pay attention to .... Understand? How to say ...? OK, Right. 在很多情景中，這些教師愛用的高頻率詞彙並沒有錯。然而，情況是變化的。學生在課堂上的表現不同，我們的課堂用語也應該有所不同。例如對學生的回答做肯定的評價。教師可以說That's it. That's right. Good! Very good! Exactly! Great! Great job! Super! 等。根據學生的不同表現，教師使用不同的課堂語言。這樣，學生才會因得到一個中肯、客觀的評價，而受到激勵和鼓舞。教師的課堂用語才會顯得生動活潑。4、課堂用語不通俗，說話費解口語有別於書面語，用詞要簡單，說話要明了。對於外語教師來說，我們所講的課堂用語要適合學生的實際水平，用學生熟悉的詞彙來組織課堂教學。能用小詞"small word" 流利地表達思想是一門藝術。可是，我們有些教師在課堂上說英語時，書生氣十足，講話文縐縐的。如："relative" means "relation or person to whom one is related by blood or marriage. If someone is your relative, they belong to the same family as you.不用說，教師這樣解釋「relative」單詞，只會使學生覺得晦澀而難以理解。其主要原因是教師的課堂用語超出了絕大部分學生的英文理解水平。教師解釋詞彙的語言是從原文辭典中照搬過來的。這種"象書本一樣說話"的作法不符合學生的實際。如果我們從學生的實際能力出發，改用學生熟悉的語言來解釋這個詞，情況也許就會不一樣。有一位老師在向學生解釋"think"一詞時，他的語言就值得我們借鑒:"I see with my eyes. I hear with my ears. I walk with my legs. I speak with my mouth. I think with my head."三、針對存在問題的對策當然，對於開始用英語來組織課堂教學的我們（non native-speaker teachers of English）來說，出現了本文中提到的種種情況，是一個不可避免的階段，但通過觀察、分析和比較，探究如何克服這些課堂用語中出現的毛病乃至最大限度地縮短這個課堂用語的"中介語階段"，是有必要的。為此，需要注意下面四個方面的問題。1、端正認識用英語組織教學，對於青年教師來說，有一定的基礎。主要解決的是一個認識問題。要在思想上重視它，注意課堂用語的系統性、規范性、交際性和針對性。對於部分口語有一定的困難的中老年教師來說，用英語組織教學，首先要消除自卑感，在實踐中樹立自信心。先備好、講熟最常用的課堂用語。在此基礎上，日積月累，逐漸達到熟練的境地。2、處理好兩個關系首先是英語和母語的關系。課堂教學中一定要堅持盡量使用英語的原則。利用學生已學的英語來解釋或介紹新的教學內容，以便在真實的教學情景中增強學生運用英語的能力。但在教語法和講解抽象名詞時，可適當利用母語。用英語來概括這個關系就是："Speak English if possible, speak Chinese if necessary." 其次是課堂用語中准確與流利的關系。准確指的是我們用語言表達思想的正確程度（包括語音、語法、用詞和語體的正確）；而流利則是指我們表達思想時的流利性。長期以來，教師對學生口語練習中出現的錯誤，是有錯必糾。過分強調語言形式的掌握及語言准確的訓練，使不少學生因怕講錯而不敢開口。與此相反，我們不少教師的課堂用語則是流利有餘，而准確不足。在課堂教學中，部分教師的課堂用語聽起來似乎很流利，但語音、語法錯誤，邏輯性的錯誤卻比比皆是。有些"低級錯誤"甚至連聽課的學生也能指出來。這種以犧牲語言表達的准確性，來追求"流利"的現象當然不可取。因為，教師的不規范語言直接影響學生的理解和領悟程度。3、擴大課堂用語的交際性課堂用語的交際性，目前還遠遠沒有體現出來。不少教師把課堂用語的使用僅僅局限在少數幾句課堂用語中。不敢越雷池半步。放棄了許多師生可以用英語進行交際的機會。例如，教師找到了一本好的工具書，就可以用英語向學生簡要地推介或回答學生的提問。有些教師擔心學生的水平還不夠。其實，學生對這種真實的言語交際活動很感興趣。關鍵是教師敢不敢於挑戰自己，有沒有這種擴大言語交際的意識。還有一些教師擔心這樣做會影響教學進度。從教學目的是交流的觀點來看，這種擔心也是多餘的。最新的理論表明，真實的語言交際活動是學生認知語言的重要渠道。4、虛心學習，敢於實踐對於我們每一位中學英語教師來說，課堂用語所追求的不是最好，而是更好。幾乎每一位教師都面臨一個"學習--實踐--提高"的問題。那麼，怎樣提高我們教師自身的口語表達能力呢？我個人認為，一要虛心學習，二要敢於實踐。虛心學習，首先指的是向書本學習。課堂用語涉及到英語教學體系和專業知識分類的框架。不讀一些專業的書籍和刊物，不熟悉一些課堂用語詞彙，課堂上就會出現講"外行話"的現象。其次，要向他人學習，向那些課堂用語講得准確、流利的老師學習。還可以有目的地收看教育電視台播放的優秀課例，注意從教學效果的角度揣摩其課堂語言特點，從中吸取養分提高自己的課堂用語水平。除了虛心學習，還要大膽實踐。把學到的東西運用到自己的課堂教學中來。這樣，我們的課堂用語才會規范、流暢、富有變化。
