一、口語越來越重要。各大學要求口語分數越來越高。
多年來，每到高考前夕，准備報考外語專業的學生和他們的家長都要東奔西走，打聽英語口語是怎麼回事，如何為口試備考。我在這里簡單介紹一下高考口試內容、形式、考試方式、過程以及經常出現的問題等，然後推薦一些備考的有效方法，為「臨時抱佛腳」的考生也「支點招」。
二、英語口試內容
1，朗讀。在考生拿到的一個英語故事上，用星號標出100-150字的一兩段，讓考生大聲讀出來：也有的時候，考簽上單設一項，印出幾個句子專門供朗讀使用。此項主要考查考生的與語音、語調、重讀、連續。、意群、停頓等。
2，就所讀的故事用英語回答問題。這篇故事或短文大約350-500字，學生完全可以讀懂，因為凡是中學課本上沒有出現過的詞，都給註上音標和解釋。老師就故事內容問5-6個問題，前面是簡單的問題，最後一個問題較難一些，例如：這個故事告訴我們什麼？此項考查學生的理解、反應快??陀鎇允欠裾?貳?
有的學生拿到的不是一個故事，而是一幅或一組圖畫，讓考生用英語描寫圖畫表現的故事，如四幅畫：第一幅一個小男孩騎著自行車飛跑；第二幅一輛轎車飛馳而來；第三幅小孩被撞到了；第四幅小孩被送到醫院了。考生要用英語講述這個故事。
3，自由交談。讀完故事或圖畫的內容之後，老師還會問幾句日常生活中的問題，例如，你在哪所中學上學，你的老師是誰，你喜歡英語嗎，你將來打算做什麼工作等。這一項主要考查考生在毫無准備的情況下反應的快慢和語言的准確性。
4，口語小作文。作文題目一般印在試卷上，但也有時候不印在試卷上。所以學生有時口語事先思考一下說些什麼。
