The Penguin Classics series was very reader friendly for beginners, since it features short stories, and also has very interesting plot. I have noticed some benefits of reading such as improving my vocabulary, and having interesting reflection about what I have read. It can be quite enjoyable to sit down and read a book if there can be time set aside for it.
