《全國中小學生英語課外閱讀領讀計劃》由全國英語閱讀教學研究協作體發布,該協作體是由北京市教育學會學科英語教育研究分會發起,並由外語教育教學研究專家、教研員和教師志願加入。該計劃倡議全國中小學生從小學一年級開始,有規劃地安排英語課外閱讀。

少兒英語教育的相關培訓機構也認同英語閱讀的重要性,並在課程設置上有所傾斜。讀伴兒創始人、瑞思學科英語董事長王蘭柱說,英語學習的下一個重點,是提升孩子「言之有物、言之有理」的能力,讓孩子真正能把語言用起來。言之有物,就要求孩子基於英語形成對世界基本概念的體系化認知;言之有理,則要求孩子對自己所獲取的信息要有所感悟、有所思辯。而這一切,僅靠看動畫片、讀故事繪本或者練口語很難解決,系統化的閱讀是英語教育必須重視的部分。

徐濤是一名6歲孩子的父親,也是英語閱讀的忠實實踐者。多年來,他堅持與孩子一起做親子閱讀。他說,孩子的成長受益於此,因為閱讀不僅僅是知識的獲取,更是今後開展成功社會交往的基礎。交往依靠表達,而表達不僅包括淺層次意義上的生活溝通,還有基於知識的深度思想交流,這必須依靠閱讀來構建。
