My fellow classmates,
Good morning. Today I'd love to introce my topic here--- "Save the environment , Save ourselves".
Nowadays many people are on fire for fighting against unfair treatments to colored people, women , animals and so on. But today I will talk about fighting for the rights of the natural.
Always we complain about the environment being destoried by our human-beings seriously, but most of us have not noticed we ourseleves are part of the polluters, too. For example. On one hand we advocate not litter here and there, on the other hand, we often wrap ice-cream papers on the ground optionally. For instance, some factory managers build their houses in the country with beautiful scenery nearby, but at the same time their factories is pouring dirty water into the river secretly... Thus, although everyday we are call in others to improve the environmental consciousness, the pollution to the environment, the hurt to animals in danger occurs still.
There are many problems about environmental protection in recent years. The most serious problems are the serious pollution of air, water and soil we live by. Although the environment doesn't have a mouth to deprecate what humans have done to her, she retaliates through action.
Moreover, in the early years the Chinese cut down large quantities of trees, at the source of the yellow river, which led to the disappearance of big forests and terrible floods. As a result, the Huangtu plateau which was once covered with grass and forests was turned into barrens that supported fewer plants. Another example was in several developed countries. Because many chemical factories discharged poisonous gas without filtering it, cities were covered with so much poisonous gas that people were killed by the air they breathed in. The polluted air does great harm to people』s health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. What is more, vegetation had been greatly reced with the rapid growth of modern cities.
What horrible scene! What we are suffering is only a small part of what the nature once suffered. If we don't take measures to show our respect to the environment, I am sure that we will have to face an increasingly awful situation.
In my opinion, Since we are all looking forward to beautiful surroundings, why can't we make and protect it ourselves? Many people always blame on others who pollute the environment but they forget he himself is one of the polluter, too! As we all know, We have only one Earth, we are not the conquer of natural but the son of her together with a lot of other creatures. If they are damaged, without our brothers and sisters, how can we live then? Therefore, Measures should be taken to protect the environment on which we are relying on .
The environment must be linked with the social ethics. Everyone must fulfil his responsibilities and obligations to protect the environment.
And at last , I'd like to say, Only by changing the way we treat the environment can we get along well with it. Only by saving the environment can we save ourselves.!

The passengers on the bus watched sympathetically as the young woman with the white cane made her way1 carefully up the steps. She paid the driver and then, using her hands to feel the location of the seats, settled in to one. She placed her briefcase on her lap and rested her cane against her leg.
It had been a year since Susan, thirty-four, became blind. As the result of a medical accident she was sightless, suddenly thrown into a world of darkness, anger, frustration and self-pity. All she had to cling to2 was her husband Mark.
Mark was an Air Force officer and he loved Susan with all his heart. When she first lost her sight, he watched her sink into despair and he became determined to use every means possible to help his wife.
Finally, Susan felt ready to return to her job, but how would she get there? She used to take the bus, but she was now too frightened to get around the city by herself. Mark volunteered to ride the bus with Susan each morning and evening until she got the hang of3 it. And that is exactly what happened.
For two weeks, Mark, military uniform and all, accompanied Susan to and from work each day. He taught her how to rely on her other senses, specifically her hearing, to determine where she was and how to adapt to4 her new environment. He helped her befriend the bus drivers who could watch out for her, and save her a seat.
Each morning they made the journey together, and Mark would take a taxi back to his office. Although that meant he had to travel through the city and the routine was costly and exhausting, Mark knew it was only a matter of① time before Susan would be able to ride the bus on her own. He believed in her.
Finally, Susan decided that she was ready to try the trip on her own. Monday morning arrived. Before she left, she embraced her husband tightly. Her eyes filled with tears of gratitude for his loyalty, his patience, and his love. She said good-bye and, for the first time, they went their separate ways. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday... Each day on her own went perfectly, and a wild gaiety5 took hold of Susan. She was doing it! She was going to work all by herself!
On Friday morning, Susan took the bus to work as usual. As she was exiting the bus, the driver said, 「Miss, I sure envy you.」 Curious, Susan asked the driver why.
「You know, every morning for the past week, a fine looking gentleman in a military uniform has been standing across the corner watching you when you get off the bus. He makes sure you cross the street safely and he watches you until you enter your office building. Then he blows you a kiss, gives you a salute6 and walks away. You are one lucky lady,」 the bus driver said.
Tears of happiness poured down Susan's cheeks. She was so lucky for he had given her a gift more powerful than sight, a gift she didn't need to see to believe—the gift of love that can bring light where there is darkness.

These wastes include chemicals, wastes from animal and plant matter, and hundreds of other substances. Wastes from farms include animal wastes, fertilizers, and pesticides. Most of these materials drain off farm fields and into nearby bodies of water. Sewerage systems carry wastes from homes, offices, and instries into water.
People, however, may differ in what they consider to be a pollutant, on the basis of their assessment of benefits and risks to their health and economic well-being. For example, visible and invisible chemicals spewed into the air or water from a plant nearby pose a danger to the people nearby and other animals and plants. However, if the installation of expensive pollution controls leads to the rection of proctivity, the unemployed might feel that the risks from polluted air and water are minor weighed against the benefits of profitable employment. The same level of pollution can also affect two people quite differently --- some forms of air pollution might be a slight annoyance to a health person but life threatening to someone with emphysema or another respiratory disorder.
