My money tree
For years I wanted a flower garden. I'd spend hours thinking of different things I could plant that would look nice together.
But then we had Matthew. And Marvin. And the twins, Alisa and Alan. And then Helen. Five children. I was too busy raising them to grow a garden.
Money was tight, as well as time. Often when my children were little, one of them would want something that cost too much, and I'd have to say, "Do you see a money tree outside? Money doesn't grow on trees, you know."
Finally, all five got through high school and college and were off on their own. I started thinking again about having a garden.
Four Seasons of a Tree
Don't judge a life by one difficult season.
There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to not judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted. The second son said no - it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed, he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but one season in the tree's life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are - and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life - can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall. Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
The Trees Outside My Window
From the window of my room, I could see a tall cotton-rose hibiscus. In spring, when green foliage was half hidden by mist, the tree looked very enchanting dotted with red blossom. This inspiring neighbor of mine often set my mind working. I graally regarded it as my best friend.
Nevertheless, when I opened the window one morning, to my amazement, the tree was almost bare beyond recognition as a result of the storm ravages the night before. Struck by the plight, I was seized with a sadness at the thought 「all the blossom is doomed to fall」. I could not help sighing with emotion: the course of life never runs smooth, for there are so many ups and downs, twists and turns. The vicissitudes of my life saw my beloved friends parting one after another. Isn』t it similar to the tree shedding its flowers in the wind?
This event faded from my memory as time went by. One day after I came home from the countryside, I found the room stuffy and casually opened the window. Something outside caught my eye and dazzled me. It was a plum tree all scarlet with blossom set off beautifully by the sunset. The surprise discovery overwhelmed me with pleasure. I wondered why I had no idea of some unyielding life sprouting over the fallen petals when I was grieving for the hibiscus.
When the last withered petal dropped, all the joyful admiration for the hibiscus sank into oblivion as if nothing was left, until the landscape was again ablaze with the red plum blossom to remind people of life』s alternation and continuance. Can』t it be said that life is actually a symphony, a harmonious composition of loss and gain.
Standing by the window lost in thought for a long time, I realized that no scenery in the world remains unchanged. As long as you keep your heart basking in the sun, every dawn will present a fine prospect for you to unfold and the world will always be about new hopes.
The Blessing Tree
I had gone into a supervisor's office to talk about a couple of issues that needed to be addressed. She, like all of the men and women in her department, had been through the proverbial "ringer." The stress was so intense, one could almost taste it.
I had been assisting the department ring a crunch period of being very short-handed, and was watching everyone get close to burn-out. When I inquired about her state of mind, she confessed that her home life was almost non-existant, because she was "zombieing through the evening". The next words out of her mouth expressed a frustration of my own: "This work is not my gift from God. My family is!"
I had heard of hanging all of one's problems from the office on a "Trouble Tree" while driving home, to be picked up on the way back to the office in the morning, and for a brief second thought about suggesting that scenario.
But what came out was: "Why don't we do something different? Let's have a Blessing Tree. On the way home in the evening, we could pull down a blessing to dwell on a character trait we adore in our spouse, a particular reason we love them, the love they or our children have for us. The list could be endless."
When I tried it on the way home that night, the stress seemed to melt away. There was a "spring in my step" and when I arrived, a smile of joy and contentment was bubbling up from within! For the first time in 2 weeks, I was overjoyed to greet my wife and children!
The Blessing Tree could make a major difference in your evenings, especially after those REALLY tough days.
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and lay around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow... He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.
Time went by... the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day. One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. 「Come and play with me,」 the tree asked the boy. 「I am no longer a kid, I don』t play around trees anymore.」 The boy replied, 「I want toys. I need money to buy them.」「Sorry, but I don』t have money...but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.」 The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited. 「Come and play with me,」 the tree said. 「I don』t have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?」「Sorry, but I don』t have a house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house.」 So the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.
One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. 「Come and play with me!」 the tree said. 「I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?」「Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.」 So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time. The tree was happy, but it was not true.
Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. 「Sorry, my boy. But I don』t have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you...」 the tree said.
「I don』t have teeth to bite,」 the boy replied.
「No more trunk for you to climb on.」
「I am too old for that now,」 the boy said.
「I really can』t give you anything... the only thing left is my dying roots,」 the tree said with tears.
「I don』t need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years.」 The boy replied.
「Good! Old tree roots is the best place to lean on and rest. Come, Come sit down with me and rest.」 The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears...
This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parent. When we were young, we loved to play with Mom and Dad... When we grown up, we left them, and only came to them when we need something or when we are in trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they could to make you happy. You may think that the boy is cruel to the tree but that』s how all of us are treating our parents.
Take time out ring the day for quiet time to listen to your inner voice. You may want to use your quiet time to meditate or pray. However you use this time, the key is to shut out all of the noise around you by focusing deep within yourself. Breathing deeply ring quiet time will also help you focus. I know it』s hard to find quiet time ring a particularly busy day, but it』s so important — even if it』s just 10 minutes a day and you have to sneak away to get it. Quiet time can really make a difference in your life. It enables you to hear God speaking to your heart reminding you of His perfect love for you.
Be honest with yourself by paying attention to your actions. Actions speak louder than words, and they always tell the truth. What do your actions say about you? If you say you love your job, but your actions say otherwise, which do you think is more true — your words or your actions? On the other hand, if you say you』re not good at a certain job, but your actions say otherwise, that』s also important. What do you do with this insight? You can use it to make more beneficial choices in your life. By being honest with yourself based on your previous actions, your actions moving forward will be based on truth instead of just what you tell yourself.
Despite what your subconscious may be telling you, you can have love with no limits. The key is to unconditionally love yourself first.
1,If I Had My Life to Live Over/如果我能再活一次
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 「good」 living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television—and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute…look at it and really see it … live it … and never give it back.
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more money, or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us. Let's think about what God has blessed us with, and what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally.
When he told me he was leaving I felt like a vase which has just smashed. There were pieces of me all over the tidy, tan tiles. He kept talking, telling me why he was leaving, explaining it was for the best, I could do better, it was his fault and not mine. I had heard it before many times and yet somehow was still not immune; perhaps one did not become immune to such felony. He left and I tried to get on with my life. I filled the kettle and put it on to boil, I took out my old red mug and filled it with coffee watching as each coffee granule slipped in to the bone china. That was what my life had been like, endless omissions of coffee granules, somehow never managing to make that cup of coffee. Somehow when the kettle piped its finishing warning I pretended not to hear it. That's what Mike's leaving had been like, sudden and with an awful finality. I would rather just wallow in uncertainty than have things finished. I laughed at myself. Imagine getting all philosophical and sentimental about a mug of coffee. I must be getting old.
And yet it was a young woman who stared back at me from the mirror. A young woman full of promise and hope, a young woman with bright eyes and full lips just waiting to take on the world. I never loved Mike anyway. Besides there are more important things. More important than love, I insist to myself firmly. The lid goes back on the coffee just like closure on the whole Mike experience.
He doesn't haunt my dreams as I feared that night. Instead I am flying far across fields and woods, looking down on those below me. Suddenly I fall to the ground and it is only when I wake up that I realize I was shot by a hunter, brought down by the burden of not the bullet but the soul of the man who shot it. I realize later, with some degree of understanding, that Mike was the hunter holding me down and I am the bird that longs to fly.
The next night my dream is similar to the previous nights, but without the hunter. I fly free until I meet another bird who flies with me in perfect harmony. I realize with some relief that there is a bird out there for me, there is another person, not necessarily a lover perhaps just a friend, but there is someone out there who is my soul mate. I think about being a broken vase again and realize that I have glued myself back together, what Mike has is merely a little part of my time in earth, a little understanding of my physical being. He has only, a little piece of me.

The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then.
The tree was again lonely and sad.
One hot summer day,the boy returned and the tree was delighted.
「Come and play with me !」The tree said.
「I am sad and getting old.I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give
a boat?」
「Use my truck to build your boat. You can sail faraway and be happy.」
So the boy cut the tree truck to make a boat .He went sailing and never
showed up for a long time.
Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years.
「Sorry,my boy.but I don』t have anything for you anymore.No more apples for
for you…「The tree said.
「I don』t have teeth to bite.」The boy replied.
「No more truck foe you to climb on.」
「I am too old for that now.」The boy said.
「I really can give you anything…The only thing left is my dying roots.」The
tree said with tears.
「I don』t need much now, just a place to rest.I am tired after all these year」
The boy replied.
「Good!Old tree roots is the best place to lean on and rest. Come, come sit
down with me and rest.」The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled
with tears……
This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parent. when we were young, we loved to play with mom and dad……
When we grown up, we left them…Only came to them when we need something or when we are in trouble.
No matter what, parents will alway be there and give everything they could to make you happy.
You may think the boy is cruel to the tree but that how all of us are treating our parent.Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.

A Boy and His Tree
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow… He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.
Time went by…The little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree.
One day, the boy came back to the tree and looked sad. 「 and play with me,」 the tree asked the boy.
「I am no longer a kid, I don』t play around trees anymore.」 The boy replied, 「I want toys. I need money to buy them.」 「Sorry, but I don』t have money…but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.」 The boy was so excited. He picked all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy didn』t come back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited. 「Come and play with me.」 The tree said. 「I don』t have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?」 「Sorry, but I don』t have a house. But you can cut off my branches to build your house.」 So the boy cut all the branches of the tree and left happily.
The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy didn』t appear since then. The tree was again lonely and sad. One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. 「Come and play with me!」 the tree said.
