China's famous space scientist Qian Xuesen, who is called the country's "father of space technology" and "king of rocket", died of illness in Beijing, at his age of 98.
In 1956, based on Qian's position paper on the countries defense and aviation instry, the central government set up an aviation instry committee, which later became the leading organization for China's missile and aviation programs.
With the guidance of Qian, China has finished the blueprint on developing jet and rocket technology. He also played a significant role in developing the country's first artificial earth satellite.
"Mr. Qian used to hold academic seminars for us. We exchanged scientific ideas and wrote articles together. The whole time when we worked with Mr. Qian had a great influence on us," Yu Jingyuan, a senior researcher said after hearing the news. In June 1964, China successfully created its first medium- and short-range missile, marking the start of the country's first missile defense system nuclear weapon.
During the man-made satellite project, when everyone else was not sure that the satellite would work perfectly in space, Qian looked up piles of documents and papers and wrote, "In my opinion, the satellite is done." On April 24, 1970, "Dongfanghong-I", the country's first man-made satellite, was successfully launched.
These days, on the official BBS of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where Qian majored in mechanic engineering from 1929 to 1934, many schoolmates still couldn't believe the news.
Many regarded his death as "a superstar fell" and expressed their blessings for him -- "Dear Mr. Qian, rest in peace. We will never forget your achievements."

Black Holes(黑洞)
Black holes are some of the strangest things in space. A black hole sucks in anything that gets near it. Nothing can escape from a black hole—not even light.
BLACK HOLES ARE STRONG
Nothing escapes from a black hole because its gravity is so strong. Gravity is a force that pulls one thing to another. Gravity is the force that holds you down on Earth. When you jump up, Earth』s gravity pulls you right back down. Earth』s gravity also makes the Moon orbit (go around) Earth.
The more matter (stuff) that is packed in a star, planet, moon, or other object, the stronger is its gravity. Gravity makes an object with more matter pull an object with less matter toward it. The Sun has a lot more matter than Earth. The Sun』s gravity pulls on Earth. It makes Earth orbit the Sun.
Matter is packed very tightly in some things and loosely in others. The matter that makes up an iron ball is packed much tighter than the matter that makes up a bag of feathers. A scientist would say that an iron ball is much denser than a bag of feathers.
A black hole is denser than anything you could imagine. A black hole could have a million times more stuff than our Sun. All of this stuff would be packed into an area smaller than a city. The force of gravity from so much stuff packed into such a small area is awesome.
WHERE DO BLACK HOLES COME FROM?
Astronomers and physicists think black holes come from dying stars. A dying star burns out and stops shining. All the stuff that makes up the star starts falling in on itself. The star gets denser and denser. If the star is big enough and has enough matter, it could get dense enough to become a black hole.
STUDYING BLACK HOLES
No one has really seen a black hole. You cannot see black holes because they do not give off any kind of light. Physicists used math to predict that black holes exist.
Astronomers look for signs of black holes. Astronomers study powerful rays coming from stars in deep space. The stars seem to be orbiting black holes. Astronomers think that black holes are sucking gas from the stars, and this makes the stars give off X rays.
Galaxies are enormous groups of stars. Astronomers think that most galaxies have huge black holes at their centers. The Hubble Space Telescope took pictures of a disk of hot gases at the center of our own Milky Way Galaxy. Astronomers think this disk is going around an enormous black hole right in the center of our galaxy.

Hello!
Our neighbour's son was getting married at an out-of-town church, and my husband and I were invited.
We immediately rushed out to a store, and I bought a nice pink dress with a jacket.
The dress was a little tight, but I had a month to go before the June 30 wedding and I would lose a few pounds.
June 29 came and, of course, I hadn't lost a single pound; in fact I had gained two.
But I figured a nice new girdle (緊身內衣) would cure everything.
So on our way out of the city we stopped once again at the store.
I ran in and told the clerk I needed a large-size girdle.
The shop assistant found the box with the described girdle marked "LG", and asked if I would like to try it on.
「Oh, no, a large will fit just right. I needn't try it on.」
The next morning was rather hot, so I waited to get dressed until about 45 minutes before time to go.
I opened the box only to find a new girdle in a small size.
Since it was too late to find another one and the dress wouldn't fit right without a girdle, a fight broke out in the hotel room between me and the girdle.
Have you ever tried to shake 20 pounds of potatoes into a five-pound bag?
That's it.
Finally my husband, laughing like crazy, got hold of each side and shook me down into it.
At once I put on the pink dress, which didn't match my red face well, and was ready to go.
Finally we got to the church.
I heard one of the people say that they were having a High Mass.
High Mass
I turned to my husband and asked, "What is a High Mass?" He shrugged his shoulders.
Unfortunately, I learned that this particular mass would last one hour, twenty-two minutes and eight and one half seconds—the priest (神父) was going to bless everything except my girdle.

Pychologists have confirmed what writers have always believed: that books are literally the stuff of dreams.
A survey has confirmed that readers of Iris Murdoch or JK Rowling are more likely to have bizarre dreams than people deep into a history of the crusades. People with a taste for fiction experienced dreams that contained more improbable events, and their dreams were more emotionally intense. The survey also found that people who read thrillers were no more likely to have nightmares. But those with a weakness for science fiction were rather more likely to wake up suddenly with a cold sweat.
The study, according to Mark Blagrove, of the University of Wales, is perhaps the first experiment to determine a link between the waking world and dreams. Dr Blagrove and colleagues distributed 100,000 questionnaires about sleep patterns and literary tastes, and got more than 10,000 replies.
They found that 58% of all alts had experienced at least one dream in which they were aware they were dreaming ?nbsp;and that women could recall more dreams than men. Older people seemed to dream less and have fewer nightmares.
Around 44% of children said their dreams were affected by the books they had been reading. "Children who report reading scary books have three times the number of nightmares as children who don't," said Dr Blagrove.

IN THIS ARTICLE: One of the biggest blockbuster movie series, the Star Wars cycle created by George Lucas, has returned to the screen, with the prequel titled Star Wars: Episode 1--The Phantom Menace。
Once, when a movie was successful there used to be a sequel, a follow-up film destined to build on the popularity of its predecessor and extend the life of the story at the box office。
Now there is the prequel。 After the success of the great Star Wars trilogy--Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983)--procer George Lucas has come up with the movie which preceded the famous story of good and evil forces battling it out across the galaxy。
This preceding movie, orprequel, Star Wars: Episode 1----The Phantom Menace (1999) sets the scene for the Star Wars trilogy, with the introction of characters such as the all-seeing old man of wisdom, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the evil Darth Vader。
When Star Wars was introced in 1977, it set new standards。 Writes film critic Colin Hogg: 『A long, long time ago in a galaxy far away,『 begins 『Star Wars『, the 『Gone With the Wind『 of science fiction movies, the epic that made the stars in the sky the stars of the movie screen and did more than any other film to bring that 『other world『 out there in the darkness into the hearts and minds of a generation。
