首先，如果看英文小說的話，一定要選自己特別有興趣的，我自己就是在初三畢業後的暑假，把哈利波特的第一部（英文版）啃了下來，閱讀能力有了較大的提高，為高中的英語省了不少力。最重要的是對語感的培養，這對於閱讀、完型和作文都極有幫助。至於讀小說的方法，我是邊讀邊畫，畫下不不認識的詞彙與有疑問的句子，等讀累了，再回頭查字典。
現在想來，還是感到有些興奮，當你對小說的情節非常痴迷時，查幾個小時的字典也不會覺得累。
此外，擴大閱讀量的另一個好方法就是讀英文報紙，推薦China Daily、21世紀英語報。科技、體育、娛樂……總有一個方面你會感興趣，在大學里，沒電視看，想來你也不會用電腦來看新聞，報紙就是一個很好的了解外界的渠道，在知道新鮮信息的慾望驅動下，去讀英文報紙，既了解時事，又擴大了詞彙量並且培養了語感，何樂而不為？
另外，因為你是英語專業的，我想你還需要對西方文化多做了解，除了上課外，你還要主動學習，我向你推薦：《咬文嚼字學英語 1000個英語習語的由來》，很有趣，既學習語，又明了其後的文化。
