看課外讀物主要是為了培養語感和擴充單詞量。讀的時候不要有壓力，先泛讀再精讀。遇到看不懂的單詞別急著查，標出來，自己猜猜是什麼意思，因為一個生單詞可能出現過很多次，首先要對單詞加深印象再去查它的意思，這樣不容易忘。然後是句子，切忌不可回看，這樣很影響閱讀質量。一開始可能很困難但要堅持讀下去，慢慢語感培養出來了會閱讀越快，而且理解句子也越來越准確。並且，讀書時切不可強求將英文翻譯成中文再理解，而盡量理解句子本身的含義。
