英語幾乎是從零開始學習的，現在會背了將近6000單詞，說明你學習語言的意志力很堅強版。請問：你背會這權6000單詞用了多長時間？
我估計你是短期內突破6000單詞的吧？如果是的話，你的單詞功底已經打好了，只是接觸英語的時間還很短。一門語言的學習，不是會背幾千單詞就能解決問題的。
我的建議：學習一些英語教材的短文，課文，還有基本的語法知識。
單詞是一回事，課文是一回事，小說又是另外一回事。小說是最高級的，現階段不適合你，你別小看那些初中等級的小說，小說是文學，是需要文化背景知識的，你的英語閱讀能力還很差，不適合讀小說。一個會6000漢字的老外，能讀懂魯迅的小說嗎？
現階段，繼續靠背課文，短文來鞏固你的單詞。課文要吃透，不明白的看教材翻譯。
