Three competing store owners rented adjoining shops in a mall. Observers waited for mayhem to ensue.
The retailer on the right put up huge signs saying, "Gigantic Sale!" and "Super Bargains!"
The store on the left raised bigger signs proclaiming, "Prices Slashed!" and "Fantastic Discounts!"
The owner in the middle then prepared a large sign that simply stated, "ENTRANCE".
前二句都是簡單句，後面三句結構相同，The retailer 主語on the right 定語put up 謂語huge signs賓語 saying分詞作版定語；第三權句that simply stated,用了定語從句，沒有用分詞作定語。

I told him in this city cost（cost 改為the expense） of living was very high.I said I had to support wife and family's cost（去掉撇號專s 和屬cost，改為wife and family）,but they couldn't live on my salary.Then（my） boss told me business was very bad.But to my surprise,in the end,he agreed and offered me a big rise（raise） in salary.

【句式結構】其實，整個句子除去修飾成分定語和狀語後，是由「主語＋謂語＋賓語」組成的一個簡單句。它屬於「五大基本句型」中的第二個句型。
