1、指讀

即為了“集中注意力”，用手指或筆尖指著文章細細的逐詞閱讀。一遇到生詞，便停頓下來，無法在通篇理解的基礎上繼續進行閱讀。也影響整句或整段的意思的理解。

按照《大學英語課程教學要求(試行)》修訂考試大綱，開發新題型，加大聽力理解部分的題量和分值比例，增加快速閱讀理解測試，增加非選擇性試題的題量和分值比例。2013年8月17日題型調整後，現行階段的四、六級考試內容由四部分構成：聽力理解、閱讀理解、綜合測試和寫作測試。

為了適應新的形勢下社會對大學生英語聽力能力需求的變化，進一步提高聽力測試的效度，全國大學英語四、六級考試委員會自2016年6月考試起將對四、六級考試的聽力試題作局部調整佔35%。閱讀理解部分比例調整為35%，其中詞彙理解（選詞填空）佔5%，仔細閱讀部分(Careful Reading)佔20%，長篇閱讀佔10%。
